2022 Rankings Update: Beyond the Box Score

<p>While many times we give the most respect to prolific scorers in high school basketball while forgetting about the guys who are huge pieces to their teams without having the most numbers. Here are our picks for the top player who make an impact beyond the box score. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="918911" first="Henry" last="Gamble"]- Mountain Vista</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="918911" first="Henry" last="Gamble"] is a guard who coaches love as he can play many roles. Henry has great size for a guard as he is 6’2 and has a good frame. On the defensive end of the floor, Henry has great footwork and can stay in front of defenders, he is also a very switchable player who uses high IQ plays to guard big men. His willingness to be a defensive presence and hustle every play is one of his best features. Then on the offensive end, he is a good spot-up shooter from three-point range. He moves very well off of the ball and can set his feet quickly to set up jump shots. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1285156" first="Andrew" last="Reichart"]- Doherty</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1285156" first="Andrew" last="Reichart"] is one of the best players in the state hustle players in the state. He does everything you ask from a power forward and more. Andrew is great at getting in position on opposing players to box out. He grabs a ton of boards on both sides of the floor often creating second-chance opportunities on the offensive end. Then in pick and rolls, he sets his feet well on the screens and is a great roller. Also from the mid-range, he is money, which allows him to be a pick and pop option. Then on the defensive end, he is one the most switchable big men in the state who can guard every player on the floor. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1143879" first="Ty" last="Nettles"]- Douglas County</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1143879" first="Ty" last="Nettles"] is a gritty smaller guard who makes his impact by being the hardest worker on the floor every time he plays. Ty is a super quick guard who has a knack for getting under players’ skins. On defense, Ty has super quick hands and footwork which allow him to get plenty of steals. With his quickness and quick hands he starts a lot of fastbreaks and often is the first one down the court due to his speed. He can also slow down to run the offense. Ty uses his speed and change of pace to the best of his advantage especially in pick and roll situations, where he can create for himself or find the open roller. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="618862" first="Jaiden" last="Flowers"]- Palmer</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="618862" first="Jaiden" last="Flowers"] is a guy who we have seen a lot of playing against some of the best competition in the nation. Jaiden is an unselfish shooting guard who is great at playing his role. He has a knockdown jumper from the outside and is a quick player off of the ball who can find open spots on the floor. Once he gets hot he is a guy who defenses have to focus in on. Jaiden is also very good at making quick decisions and snapping the ball over to open teammates. His good decision-making and shooting ability allow him to use fakes to get defenders out of position and to make plays. </p>
