There was plenty of talent on display at the Prep Hoops Texas Top 250 Expo in Dallas. This is my in-depth analysis of each of the players in attendance. Be on the lookout for the rest of my top player’s list and my coverage of all the athletes.

Jakari is an aggressive player who thrives at fighting through contact and finishing at the rim. He is elite at adjusting his speed and changing his pace when beating defenders in the full court and when trying to turn the corner on an on-ball defender. His athleticism was on full display as he made plays all around the court. He was able to seemingly finish every shot at the rim and his explosiveness and ability to strike fear into his opponents in the paint really stood out. I would like to see him work on getting his shot off the dribble, especially after changing his pace. It will require lots of hours taking shots off the bounce at different speeds and angles, but he has all the tools to become successful at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295914" first="Devon" last="Craig"] 2024 6’2 Lonestar High School

Devon is a skilled player who looks like he is not done growing. He has a good set shot from all around the arc when given the time to set his feet and square his shoulders. I would like to see him work on his ability to attack the pick and roll as a screener. There were plenty of opportunities where he could have popped out to get an open shot in the midrange or behind the arc. I would also like to see him work on opening towards his guard so he can always be ready to receive a pass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1292324" first="Christian" last="O’Connor"] 2024 6’3 Southlake Carroll High School

Christian is a very skilled defender who thrives on this end of the floor. He has active hands that can tie up his opponents and turn away shots at the rim. He is a great defender in the paint and is a real weapon protecting the rim, even despite his size. He was not afraid to bang with bigger forwards for rebounds or when attacking the basket. I would like to see him work on his ability to put the ball on the floor and beat his defenders off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295845" first="Jordan" last="McBryde"] 2024 Wing 6’3 Wing Harlan High School

Jordan is an athletic wing who is great at finishing in the lane. He possesses great length and the ability to stay in front of ball handlers and driving opponents. He is a capable rim protector at the wing position. He is great at using his frame and keeping the ball away from defenders when attacking the rim. He is a good screener who knows how to utilize his frame and create space through solid screens. I would like to see him work on using his frame to seal his defender away from the basket when he rolls. There were instances where he could have opened quicker and been ready to receive an interior pass. McBryde has plenty of untapped potential and coaches should keep an eye on his growth this season.
