There was plenty of talent on display at the Prep Hoops Texas Top 250 Expo in Dallas. This is my in-depth analysis of each of the players in attendance. Be on the lookout for the rest of my top player’s list and my coverage of all the athletes.

Barry Isaya Pankey 2024 Woodrow Wilson High School

Barry is an impressive force who thrives at finishing through contact at the rim. He displayed freak athleticism and the ability to get through tight spaces in the half-court and get to the rim. I was impressed with his ability to get to the spots that he was comfortable at in the lane and the mid-post. I would like to see him work on speeding up his release and squaring up his whole body when he is getting ready to shoot. At times he is rushing to get the shot up and speeds up his mechanics.

Carter is a crafty slasher who can finish at the rim with the best of them. He has long arms and great length that allows him to seem to always stay ahead of his defenders. He hustles and flies all around the court for loose balls and always is running the court to create open looks for himself on the fast break. He is a great rim protector for his size and is not afraid to put his body on the line and slide over to take a charge or defend an easy look at the rim. I would like to see him work on his ability to shoot off the bounce beyond the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="1125971" first="Bryson" last="McGlothin"] 2024 6’4 Heath High School

Bryson is a sophomore who really caught my eye during his time on the floor. He possesses great length with an ability to race up and down the field and compete on both ends. He is a very fluid athlete who looks to move with ease. He is a reliable finisher in transition and thrives as a rim running wing. He has an ability to knock down shots from the wings and the corners to space the floor and possesses the ability to put the ball on the floor and score in the lane. I would like to see continued development with his shot off the dribble, especially in the midrange where he could become an even deadlier weapon on offense. His ability to run and move his feet should be a good indicator that he has the potential to translate into a high-level defender as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1217934" first="Anthony" last="Bates Jr"] 2024 6’2 Katy Seven Lakes

Anthony is a very fluid athlete who has great body control. He is a high-level finisher in the paint due to his ability to get around defenders with quick moves such as euro steps and double clutches. He has a great handle and the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to his spots. He displayed a plethora of high-level moves such as floaters and creative stepbacks. He is a very skilled shooter off the bounce. Bates is also a very aware player who knows how to attack the weak spots in the defense. This is one athlete that I am going to keep my eye on during this upcoming high school season.
