2022 Autavius Hobbs | PG | BMM | Naaman Forest
Hobbs is an elite scorer at the point guard position. On a team full of length, athleticism and speed, Hobbs performs at a high level. Hobbs showed off his elite shooting ability knocking down shot after shot from pull up jumpers to deep timely three pointers. In a tough game against Argyle Hobbs put together a string of scoring bursts that help his team to victory. He called his number each time his team needed him, and he came through every time. Hobbs is a productive and positive piece for Naaman Forest. I see big things coming from him this season.
2022 Mitch Williams Mitch Williams 6'1" | CG Grapevine | 2022 TX | G | 3D Empire | Grapevine HS
Can you SHOOTER!!!!!!!!! Every time Williams touches the ball, I expect him to make it. One of the best shooters not only in his class but in the state of Texas, Williams does more than just shoot the ball. I watched Williams be a play maker on multiple occasions using his ability to shoot as a decoy to get his teammates more opportunities. Williams is also an amazing finisher. He finished on a multitude of athletic lay ups with both hands and on both sides of the rim. His opponents were aware of his shooting ability which led to a lot of in lane drives for Williams. Nonetheless they could not stop him from getting open and getting to his three ball. Williams started every game I watched with a three-point barrage that initially set the tone for the Mustangs.
2022 Bryce Robinson | F | RTK Elite | Burleson HS
Robinson was a force all over the court. On offense his was getting to the basket, knocking down the midrange which was virtually automatic and even connecting on the three ball. Robinson was active from the start of the game, especially on the offensive boards. He grabbed numerous offensive rebounds that generated more offense for the Centennials. On the defensive end he was leading by example, his presence was felt all over the court as his defensive intensity rubbed off on his teammates. Robinson was communicating and showing extreme leadership that helped his team create turnovers.
2023 Josh Jackson | G | Braswell HS
Jackson shot the ball with extreme efficiency from three. Jackson has a text book form on his shot that ends with the beautiful follow through. Jackson got it done at the Team Arete Showcase. Every shot looked effortless to him. His pull up jumpers, his strong drives to the basket. Jackson was under control every play down no matter the circumstances or pressure that was applied. He never rushed his movements nor his shot. I loved watching Jackson perform. He put together a solid days work.
2022 Raven Ortiz Raven Ortiz 6'0" | PG San Angelo Central | 2022 State TX | PG | Pro Skills San Antonio | San Angelo Central
On a team full of guards Ortiz makes sure everyone eats. With his ability to score at will, Ortiz brought the ball up each possession looking to get everyone involved. I watched the first 5 minutes of his first game as his impact and leadership was on full display, he hadn’t even taken a shot yet. During that 5-minute span Ortiz had 4 rebounds, 5 assists with 2 steals. His hands were all over the game and then when it was time for him to turn it on. He kicked it into gear hitting back-to-back threes. Ortiz followed those threes up with two strong finishes at the rim. His poise and composure throughout impressed me the most about him. He’s never rushed, his sneaky athleticism allows him to blow by his defender whenever he feels the need to be in attack mode.
2023 Justin Whitmore Justin Whitmore 6'7" | PF Naaman Forest | 2022 State TX | F | Urban DFW Elite | Naaman Forest
I’m not going to say every time I watch Whitmore he gets better and better. I’m going to say every time I watch him, he gets more comfortable. Whitmore showed off his impressive ability to consistently make shots. Whether it was the pull up jumper or the three, Whitmore’s versality was on full display. He created multiple opportunities for his team by securing the rebound and starting the fast break which led to easy transition points. What a luxury to have a player that stands at 6’7-6’8 with the ability to start your fast break. Naaman has that! Though Whitmore has impressed offensively with his foot work and as I stated earlier his ability to stretch the floor. He has not forgotten that he is still a force on the defensive end blocking multiple shots and changing many others
