Some of the prospects will grow, some will play different positions with their high school, and club teams. When we observed their play at the point position, it was apparent that they could handle the spot.
Jamari Phillips Jamari Phillips 6'3" | SG Dream City Christian | 2024 State #20 Nation AZ 6’3 of Modesto Christian HS.
Phillips is not only NorCal’s top prospect in this 2024 Class. He has vaulted himself into the 2024 National Rankings with his play. We list him at PG. He’ll spend a lot of his time off ball knocking down 3-pointers on the catch and shoot or handling to get himself better looks. He has the tools needed to play the point. A willing passer, good patience, nice handles, and a mid-range game. The DI offers are coming in from around the country.
Quinton Bundage Quinton Bundage 5'10" | PG Liberty | 2024 CA-N 5’9 of Archbishop Riordan HS.
Bundage was impressive during the live periods with his club team. An under 6’0 guard who can handle the physical contact, and likes taking it to the big boys in the paint. He pushes hard, and fast in transition, seeing the court well to make the pass. He has good bounce on his pull-up, he’s added 3-point capabilities. He has quickness, and lateral movement to be a disruptive on ball defender.
Mateen Rafiq Mateen Rafiq 6'0" | PG Weston Ranch | 2024 State CA-N 6’0 of El Camino HS
Rafiq can play both guard positions. During the live periods he did an excellent job of running the teams offense, showing patience at the top, and good vision finding teammates off the drive for good shots. Playing with his high school mates, we found out he can knock down 3-pointers with a good amount of consistency.
Kevin Haupt Kevin Haupt 5'10" | PG Jesuit | 2024 State CA-N . 5’10 Oakmont HS.
Haupt Jr. is a rising point guard in the 2024 NorCal class. He has the tools to be a quality facilitator, with good command of the offense, good vision, and passing. He looks to involve shooters, and post players regularly. He keeps defenders off balance on the drive, will finish with different moves, and he can shoot 3’s. He averaged 16.5 in 17 high school games.
Tyler Jones Tyler Jones 6'2" | PG Archbishop Mitty | 2024 State CA-N 6’1 of Archbishop Mitty HS
Jones has been refining his point guard skills all summer. He’s a solid ball handler, with good voice command directing the offense. He’s an excellent passer, who can get by his man off the dribble, looking to dump off to a big or spot shooters on the perimeter. He’s getting stronger and brings good energy on the defensive side of the ball.
Jake Rodriguez Jake Rodriguez 5'11" | PG Urban | 2024 State CA-N 5’9 of Urban HS.
Rodriquez plays with lots of energy on the court. He’s at his best when things are moving rapidly and he can defend full court, harassing ball handlers, and forcing turnovers with his quickness. He does show patience running the offense, he’s a willing passer, and loves to go by defenders off the dribble.
Thurmond Thorpe Thurmond Thorpe 6'1" | PG Mountain House | 2024 State CA-N 5’10 of Mountain House HS.
Thorpe continues his solid play at the guard position. He’s a strong guard, plays with good balance using his strength to make his way into the paint, where he’s a good finisher around the basket. He can play both guard positions. He sees the floor like a point guard, and passes well. He has a nice mid-range pull-up jumper. He averaged 10.4 pts a game.
JP Kerrigan JP Kerrigan 6'2" | PG Sacred Heart Prep | 2024 State CA-N 5’11 of Sacred Heart Prep HS.
Kerrigan is a hard charging guard who can play both guard positions. He’s a good ball handler who loves to get into the paint with a hard drive, then jump stop on two to get the defense to commit, he’ll pivot and shoot, or kick it out to open shooters. He’s patient enough to run the teams offense, but also likes to get his shots up as well. He gives good effort.
