PHI was in Marion on Sunday afternoon checking out prospects from southern Illinois in the Pure Sweat October Jamboree ran by Justin Barrington of the Illinois Bears. Let’s dive into the prospects in Pure Sweat October Jamboree: Upperclassmen Evaluations!

[player_tooltip player_id="863605" first="Justin" last="King"] (Mascoutah – 2022)

King is a 6’4” combo guard that loves to operate in space where he can use his smooth handles and long strides to get to the rim. Did that quite often throughout the day winning off the dribble for acrobatic layups with either hand. Shot it pretty well especially off the bounce from mid-range and three. Low-major prospect still looking for a home.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106927" first="Elliot" last="Lowndes"] (Cobden – 2022)

Lowndes has been a sleeper that has intrigued us for a while. The 6’10” five man is headed into his senior year. Legit size and length. Strength is the biggest concern here as he is rail thin and has trouble finishing through contact. There is a lot to like however as he is super mobile and agile for his size. Runs the floor very well and can even handle/dish a little. He shined in transition throughout the day along with cleaning up on the offensive glass. Good shot blocker as well. D2s looking for a project big man or a JUCO that has good post development this would be a great guy.

Traijon Smith (DuQuoin – 2022)

The 5’10” point guard is a compactly built scorer. He was pretty sound shooting it and displayed toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id="989278" first="Ty" last="Lenhardt"] (Waterloo – 2022)

Lenhardt has solid size on the wing for the small college level at 6’3”. He hit some difficult turnaround jumpers and a few threes on the day. Good build for the wing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049106" first="Brady" last="Thrane"] (Hamilton County – 2022)

Thrane is a thick bodied guard that plays with a high motor and a great deal of toughness. He is the type of guy who is always around the ball making plays on runners, put backs, and hits the open shot. Glue guy!

Kelly Pratt (Marion – 2022)

Thick bodied guard put his name on our radar with a strong showing. He was pretty good from distance hitting an array of threes with his set shot release.

[player_tooltip player_id="1157346" first="Jaden" last="Smith"] (DuQuoin – 2022)

This southern Illinois guard stands at 5’11” with a compact build. He was most effective using his pull up game on the baseline and from 15 feet in. Quick passes and made plays in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id="989273" first="Grant" last="Fridley"] (Trenton Wesclin – 2023)

Fridley was the top junior prospect in the building. High IQ 6’2” point guard that has an off the charts feel for the game. He makes excellent decisions with the rock in his hands dishing off to his teammate for scores. Creative ball handler through traffic also displaying some hesitation along with start and stop moves in this setting. Sound pull up jump shooter. High end D2 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1231683" first="Dylan" last="Murphy"] (Columbia – 2023)

Murphy had an excellent day of work at the jamboree. The 6’5” combo forward displayed skill being able to put it on the deck with a solid handle and draining several threes. Good looking shot mechanically and showed competitiveness throughout the workout!

Garrett Harrell (Marissa – 2023)

Harrell stands at 6’5” with a thick build. Junk yard dog type of role player that was good getting on the offensive glass and hitting short jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1164548" first="Devan" last="Rush"] (Metro East Lutheran – 2023)

Rush was as good as we have seen him on Sunday. The 6’2” two guard looked comfortable playing both on and off the ball. He was feeling it from the perimeter draining an array of threes along with crisp pull up mid-range jumpers letting them fly with a ton of confidence. Used his handles to get in the lane where he either got layups taking it all the way in or kicked to shooter for better looks. Really liked what Rush did on the day.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113522" first="Tyler" last="Franklin"] (Cobden – 2023)

Nice day for the 6’6” face up four from Cobden. Strong frame with the ability to stretch the floor which he did on a consistent basis throughout the day especially in the second session of games. Lefty had a clean looking stroke that he connected on at a high clip. Tough and physical rebounder that cleans up on the offensive boards.

[player_tooltip player_id="1055130" first="McGrady" last="Noyes"] (Triad – 2023)

Have been intrigued for a while with this 6’5” wing. Excellent size and skill level. He knocked down threes at a nice clip particularly from the corners. Passes well for a two guard/small forward making several nifty finishes for dimes.

Robby Rooker (Crab Orchard – 2023)

It was a breakout day for this 5’11” point guard. He was automatic from three all day long particularly when spotting up from the corners. One of the most consistent shooters on the day at the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113516" first="Darien" last="Singleton"] (Mascoutah – 2023)

Singleton is a scoring guard at 6’1” that was a bit streaky on the day shooting the rock. Volume scorer brings athleticism and burst to the table. He is actually a pretty good passer when he decides to do it as he moved the ball a couple times for nice dimes. Would like to see him add this more in his repertoire.

Evan Noelle (Marion – 2023)

The starting QB for Marion took some time away from the gridiron to break out his sneakers. Have to like the size on the wing at 6’5” along with the athletic pop from Noelle. The small forward did a lot of his damage in the open floor as a transition player skying above the rim for finishes and acrobatic layups. Mobility in the pick/roll and crashed the glass.
