Preseason Player of the Year: 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158447" first="Joseph" last="Bockman"], Decorah

Good arguments can be made for any of the five players who landed on the first team to be pegged as the Preseason POY here, but we'll go with Bockman, who leads a Vikings team that has controlled the conference for the last few years and is likely our pick to win it again this season.

First Team

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158447" first="Joseph" last="Bockman"], Decorah: 14.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals

Bockman is a typical Decorah guard - a bit undersized, but a good athlete who uses his strength well to finish around the bucket. He impacts the game on both ends of the floor with his athleticism, toughness, and quickness.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682293" first="Drake" last="Wemark"], New Hampton: 15.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.9 steals, 1.1 blocks

Wemark missed nine games last season but was extremely productive on both ends when he was on the floor for the Chickasaws. His ability to create his own shot, contribute on the glass, and get others involved is arguably the best in the league.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167722" first="Chase" last="Low"], Charles City: 14.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.9 steals, 49.4 FG%

Low is a fantastic athlete with great length that he uses well on both ends of the floor. He gets out in transition and is an excellent finisher around the rim, and he's working to become a better shooting threat as well.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158448" first="Braden" last="Hemann"], Waukon: 14.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.2 steals, 78.6 FT%

A versatile 6-5 forward who can score inside and out, Hemann is the league's top returnee in made 3-pointers, knocking down 43 of them last season. He can also take his defender down onto the block and score efficiently.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962680" first="Keaton" last="Farmer"], Waverly-Shell Rock: 11.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals, 40.0 3P%

Arguably the best shooter in the conference, Farmer is the Go-Hawks' leading returning scorer, and his 36 made 3-pointers last season are second among league returnees.

Second Team

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1067654" first="Sean" last="Murphy"], Waukon

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682272" first="Hogan" last="Hansen"], Waverly-Shell Rock

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167749" first="Carter" last="Steinlage"], New Hampton

2022 Jeremy Andera, Crestwood

2024 Cole Marsh, Waverly-Shell Rock

Honorable Mentions

2022 Jacob Pipho, Decorah
2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1235031" first="Cole" last="Hamilton"], Oelwein
2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167694" first="Asa" last="Newsom"], Waverly-Shell Rock
2022 Braxton Stewart, Waukon
2022 Ian Collins, Charles City
2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1171655" first="Treyton" last="McCain"], Decorah
