What frontcourt prospects caught my eye at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Camp in Romeoville? Here are a ton between the classes of 2022, 2023, and 2024!

Class of 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1157051" first="Dominic" last="Commisso"] 6’8 Rockford Hononegah F/C

Face up forward who showed his versatility playing inside and outside. Dominic scores well around the rim making plays with his back to the basket. He made several hook shots and drop step layups. Commisso showed good poise making some on the spot passes to teammates out of the post. Dominic then moved to the outside and made a couple of shot from beyond 15 feet. To cap off his day he ran to the floor and his guards hit him for two strong dunks. Small schools have been on him since the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="939068" first="Sam" last="Lewis"] 6’5 Oak Park River Forest F

Lewis has been trending upward this whole month and at the expo was no different. Sam breaks guys down off the dribble often looking to score. He’s difficult to guard in transition using his athleticism to score over the defense. Sam can beat guys off the dribble with strong iso moves. Big things ahead for Lewis!

[player_tooltip player_id="1210378" first="Conrad" last="Luczynski"] 7’2 Bartlett C

The tallest player in the gym is an immediate rim protector. He did a great job at changing and altering shots. Solid rebounder. Conrad does a good job wrangling in boards in his area. Luczynski on the offensive side can play out the post and hit a few hook shots while being doubled.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049108" first="Deven" last="Jiles"] 6’6 Richards F

Tough big who competes hard on both ends or the court. Jiles has great hands around the rim and can score through contact. Deven opened my eyes early as he snatched rebounds and went through defenders’ chest to score buckets. He was very consistent on the day proving there are traditional post players in the game still. JUCO unknown prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295624" first="Genesis" last="English"] 6’6 Julian F

English is a physical forward who attacks the glass hard. He made several jump hooks in the lane and blocked two shots in the game I watched. Genesis has improved his offensive output since we last saw him in the spring. JUCO or small school prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="863601" first="Gabe" last="Madej"] 6’5 Fenwick F

Madej is a spacing forward who makes shots on the perimeter. He was more effective playing on the baseline 15 feet and out. Gabe crashes the boards strongly looking to mix it up. Madej can be more effective as a 3/4 at the college level.

Class 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="1215294" first="Mason" last="Funk"] 6’4 University High F

Funk had my all-time defensive performance at the camp. He swatted a total of 10 shots in one game. Mason showed impeccable timing while guarding the rim. He blocked shots in every which way possible. Mason plays with a strong motor and most of the time it helps him score because he out worked the defense. Funk scored in transition by pushing the ball off rebounds or loose balls. Undersized forward who will be a focal point for his U-High squad.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048310" first="George" last="Bellevue"] 6’6 Lincoln Way East F

George looks the part with his size but he also brought his game with him on Sunday. Bellevue started his game hitting two threes with a taller defender in his grill. He opened up lanes for his teammates because he kept rim protectors on the perimeter guarding him. George has that body to take bumps as well as go through guys when they try to match up with him at the basket. Bellevue is a rising junior coaches should monitor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1279766" first="Jayden" last="Watson"] 6’6 Brother Rice F

At his size Watson at times looked more like a guard hitting defenders with fluid crossover moves and attacking the rim to finish through contact. Jayden can rebound the ball and push the tempo on a fast break and a few times he made really good passes in the process. Watson has a nice upside to his game and he can become a late blooming college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113520" first="Kevin" last="Anthony"] 6’8 Von Steuben F/C

Long agile big man who does a great job at protecting the rim. Anthony has good instincts and timing on missed shots. Solid back to the rim player out of the post. Kevin is still raw in some areas but has ample opportunity to develop that part of his game.

Class of 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="1157229" first="Taevion" last="Collier"] 6’5 Curie F

Collier is a load inside. Other camp attendees had a very tough time keeping him off the boards. He is a bigger bodied forward who can move for his size. Taevion did a good job keeping guys on his back and scoring through contact. He made a few dunks in the game I watched. D1 prospect!

[player_tooltip player_id="1285496" first="Jason" last="Jakstys"] 6’8 Yorkville F/C

Jason is a prospect that won’t stay under the radar much longer. He is lanky big man who is active and can play inside and out. He caught my eye by running the floor well catching passes in the lane to finish it with a dunk. From then on he made a few three pointers and pulled down several missed offensive boards. With Jakstys you can see where he will develop into a mid-major plus big man.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295625" first="Trevian" last="Shatteen"] 6’5 Julian F

Smaller forward that plays with energy. Shatten was seen making post moves and scoring on either side of the rim. Trevian wasn’t seen taking many shots but did do a good attacking taller big men off the dribble. Player to monitor going forward.
