The Class of 2023 has a lot of talent, and could be one of the deeper classes we have seen come out of New Mexico with numerous division 2, and a few potential division 1 players. Some of these players have played a big role since their freshman year, and some stepped up in the first chance playing varsity last season. Here is a breakdown of the top forwards and post players in the updated Class of 2023 rankings.

PF 6’8 [player_tooltip player_id="1285504" first="Davion" last="Guity"], ABC Prep: Guity transfers in from the Bronx to play for ABC Prep on the Grind Session. A monster rebounder, and capable shooter that is developing his wing skills. Davion will look to lead ABC Prep in their inaugural season against some of the top teams in the country.

PF 6’8 [player_tooltip player_id="1124213" first="Sean" last="Alter"], Volcano Vista: Alter is a high motor player that is sneaky athletic and mobile. He has developed his post skills, now having the ability to use his right hook over defenders pretty consistently, and more confident with the ball in his hands in those situations. Sean has grown about 2 inches since this time last year, and had a good summer culminating in an offer to Eastern New Mexico.

C 6’6 [player_tooltip player_id="1293055" first="Maddox" last="Presser"], Rio Rancho: Presser was introduced to me just a few weeks before the rankings update at a local tournament playing with the Rams off-season team. He’s a bruiser with quick feet, that’s best at rebounding and setting screens.

C 6’8 [player_tooltip player_id="1076709" first="Caleb" last="Carr"], Las Cruces: Caleb is the younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id="1076667" first="Isaiah" last="Carr"]. He is still a bit of a raw prospect on the court, but his size helps him rebound, and defend. This should be his first year seeing varsity minutes, but he will be apart of a loaded Las Cruces team with plenty of size.

C 6’6 [player_tooltip player_id="1208573" first="Tylen" last="Gonzalez"], Carlsbad: Gonzalez provided quality minutes off of the bench for Carlsbad last season. A big body that rebounds very well, and knows how to use his size to stop players from finish at the rim. He should step into the starting role at Carlsbad on a team that is looking to get back to the playoffs as a top 8 seed.
