With 12 teams on two courts including 10 high school teams, two showcase teams, there was plenty of talent across the board and tons of coaches tuned in and in person there to recruit the talent.
Here’s a look at part three of some of the standouts in the 2022 class at session two. There will be one more session as well on October 24 at U-Turn.
If you’re interested in watching the replays, you can see the entire event on the CBG Live Network.
Gray Proffitt Gray Proffitt 6'5" | CG Douglas Freeman | 2022 State VA | 6’5” G | CBG Elite 1 (Douglas Freeman)
Proffitt continues to show he’s one of the most underrated prospects in the Richmond area, as his mix of size, feel and fundamentals allows him to be very productive in a number of ways. The 6’5” guard is crafty off the bounce and is a crafty finisher from multiple levels, he has excellent footwork and can pivot and use his size to see over defenses and make good passes and he’s a sneaky athlete who can put it down when he’s challenged at the rim.
Wendell Tomlin Wendell Tomlin 6'6" | PF Church Hill Academy | 2022 State VA | 6’6” F | CBG Elite 1 (Church Hill Academy)
Tomlin had yet another good weekend at the CBG Fall Series, this time with CBG Elite after having a good weekend with ASSIST Showcase in Session 1. The 6’6” forward is very versatile and has good ball skills for a forward as he can put it on the deck and create off the bounce, he’s excellent out of the triple threat, he can shoot it from deep and he’s able to guard multiple positions as well.
CJ Highsmith CJ Highsmith 6'11" | C Richmond Christian | 2022 State VA | 6’11” C | CBG Elite 1 (Richmond Christian)
Highsmith has been on the radar over the past few years but he showed at session two of the Fall Series that he’s come a long way over that time and continues to develop into a very intriguing prospect. At 6’11” he’s a mobile big who can run the floor and has good athleticism, he has improved on his timing and his hands and he’s an inside presence with a lot of potential moving forward.
George Cutler | 6’0” PG | CBG Elite 2 (Cape Henry)
Cutler has steadily built himself into one of the most underrated point guards in the 757, and he picked up a lot of interest at the Fall Series showing his ability to make plays and run a team on the Elite team. Cutler is a wizard with the ball in his hands as he keeps it on a string and can create in isolation situations, he is a terrific playmaker with great feel and the ability to put guys in situations to succeed and he’s strong and capable of creating for himself and getting in the lane at will.
Greg Melvin Greg Melvin 6'7" | PF Cape Henry | 2022 State VA | 6’7” F | CBG Elite 2 (Cape Henry)
Melvin had one of the best showings I’ve seen from him in a while in their game against John Marshall, where he showed improvement on his perimeter skill set, scored the ball well and competed on both ends. He’s a very gifted athlete and has a great frame, he showed he can make shots from deep and attack the rim and make plays for himself and others and he’s an excellent rebounder especially on the offensive glass.
Kendon Peebles Kendon Peebles 6'4" | SF Catholic | 2022 State VA | 6’4” WF | CBG Elite 2 (Catholic)
Peebles was a standout at session one playing with great energy and showing improvement in areas he needed to, and he brought it again in session two on a talented Elite 2 team as he made plays on both ends. He’s a good athlete with good length and a good frame, he makes all the hustle plays you want defensively and is good on and off the ball on that side of the floor and he can make shots and get to the rim and finish through contact.
