Who are the premier prospects in the Illinois 2022 class at the point guard spot? We break it down right here in Top Illinois 2022 Point Guards!

[player_tooltip player_id="863587" first="Jalen" last="Quinn"] (Tuscola)

Current Ranking: #4

Quinn has been a dominant force in central Illinois over the past two seasons for Tuscola. He shined on the UAA Circuit with his ability to win off the dribble against high level competition. Shifty guard that gets in the lane where he is adept at finishing with either hand. Playmaking guard makes sound decisions with the ball running his team and getting others involved. Committed to Loyola.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210369" first="Trey" last="Pettigrew"] (Kenwood)

Current Ranking: #5

Pettigrew is coming back to Illinois after spending a year in Arizona at a prep school. He showed the scoring pop he has always had at the lead guard spot with the Mac Irvin Fire along with tighter handles than we remembered. Multi level scorer that has high-major and mid-major plus schools on him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048712" first="Tavari" last="Johnson"] (Lyons)

Current Ranking: #6

Johnson is a PHI favorite. The Lyons Township point guard is an elite ball screen player that makes decisions with such ease. High level passer that sees the floor like a college upperclassmen. Plus shooter that can knock down shots pulling up off the dribble or spot up threes. Despite being smaller he is a very pesky defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="925184" first="Damari" last="Wheeler-Thomas"] (Larkin)

Current Ranking: #19

Larkin point guard just goes about his business and gets the job done no matter the setting. He showed with Young & Reckless he can play both on and off the ball. Creative ball handler that gets where he needs to get his shot off. Solid passer that should find a home at the low-major level.

[player_tooltip player_id="863605" first="Justin" last="King"] (Mascoutah)

Current Ranking: #21

King has good size at about 6’3” with a long and slender build. He is a silky smooth operator with the rock in his hands. Gets where he needs off the dribble hitting the crease. The jump shot showed growth. Projects as a combo that can play at the low-major level.

[player_tooltip player_id="925190" first="Cooper" last="Noard"] (Glenbrook South)

Current Ranking: #22

Noard was one of the more undervalued point guards in this class in our eyes. He is a winner that understands the game and hits shots. In a day and age where so much emphasis is put on shooting he will be a great fit for a program.

[player_tooltip player_id="771517" first="Jaylen" last="Drane"] (Simeon)

Current Ranking: #25

Drane has been a name on the radar since before he stepped into high school. The Simeon combo guard is a rangy player that when he is at his best makes plays getting in the lane and in transition. Shows flashes as a shooter and playmaker. Worth a low-major going after him as he has upside as a two way guy!
