Continue ReadingSaturday was an exciting day in Logan, OH as the 2nd annual Route 33 Challenge took place. I was in attendance as the host as 45 prospects across Southeast and Eastern Ohio came together to compete against one another in front of over 100 college coaches virtually. Below are the top performers from the event.
Kaelan Pulliam (Sheridan) 2022 6’4
Pulliam set the tempo early on at the Challenge as he brought intensity to the floor especially on the offensive end. Pulliam has good versatility as a scorer and showed he could connect from multiple levels. His size allowed him to finish over smaller defenders on the bounce and shoot over guys when they contested his midrange shots.
Tegan Myers Tegan Myers 6'1" | SG Logan | 2022 State OH (Logan) 2022 6’1
Myers connected on multiple shots throughout the day including two games winners in round robin play. Myers was the only member of the host school in attendance but made it clear he had the confidence to shoot the ball in a variety of ways.
Kolten Miller (Western) 2022 6’1
Saturday was the first time seeing Miller play live and I really liked what I saw out of him. Found gaps on the defensive end and got by defenders on the perimeter. Strong finisher and poised even when facing contact on shots. High IQ guard that makes smart plays.
Jesse Dixon (Portsmouth West) 2022 6’4
Dixon also started off the event strong doing a little bit of everything for his team. Hustled on both ends of the floor. Demonstrated an ability to consistently hit perimeter shots both contested and wide open. Smart passer and knew when to keep the ball vs hitting an open teammate on the wings. I really liked his demeanor on the floor and competitiveness he brought to the table.
Mason Weisbrodt Mason Weisbrodt 6'8" | C Batavia | 2022 State OH (Batavia) 2022 6’9
Weisbrodt was without a doubt the biggest guy in the event. The Batavia native used that size to simply dominate the event. Rebounded the ball with ease and rarely allowed someone else to beat him. Soft touch on the offensive end around the rim and cleaned up second chance opportunities.
Jake Singleton Jake Singleton 5'11" | PG Meadowbrook | 2022 State OH (Meadowbrook) 2022 6’1
Singleton played with a lot of confidence and really impressed as an overall guard. Extremely quick ball handler that changed direction and forced defenses to come defend him. Great shooting mechanics accompanying a deadly midrange game too.
Bransyn Copas Bransyn Copas 6'0" | PG North Adams | 2024 State OH (North Adams) 2024 5’11
Copas was the youngest player on this list but made it clear he could compete with many of the older guys he was facing. Very fast guard. Handles the ball exceptionally well and showed a consistent perimeter shot that caught my attention early on. Promising prospect in that 2024 class.
