Preseason All-Conference Teams: MAC

We expect Pleasant Valley to remain the top team in the conference, with their hard-nosed defense and patient offensive attack leading them to the top of the standings, and if they get there, it’s largely because of Dolphin, a versatile two-way guard with a high IQ.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4>First Team</h4> <p><strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682267" first="Ryan" last="Dolphin"], Pleasant Valley: 11.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.2 steals</strong></p> <p>A heady lead guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor, Dolphin leads a PV team that should be the best in the league again this year, despite losing some key pieces to graduation. He’s a prototypical Spartan guard - tough, physical, and a good defender.</p> <p><strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158413" first="Shawn" last="Gilbert"], Central DeWitt: 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.1 blocks, 59.6 FG%, 45.2 3P%</strong></p> <p>One of the more unique players in the state, Gilbert is a big body who can score inside and out, rebound, protect the rim, and handle it a bit. His offensive versatility combined with his frame makes him a really difficult player to defend.</p> <p><strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158424" first="Oliver" last="Hughes"], North Scott: 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 49.4 FG%, 41.5 3P%</strong></p> <p>A knockdown shooter and solid defender, Hughes will be the focal point of the Lancers attack this year. Like Dolphin at PV, Hughes is a typical North Scott guard - tough, physical, and a good defender who can knock down shots.</p> <p><strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962602" first="Noah" last="Mack"], Assumption: 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.1 steals, 38.8 3P%. 85.7 FT%</strong></p> <p>Mack does a little bit of everything for the Knights, using his length well on the defensive end. He has really improved as a playmaker and should see his scoring totals tick up significantly following the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id="678937" first="Emarion" last="Ellis"].</p> <p><strong>2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1171678" first="Kyle" last="Lamonte"], Davenport North: 6.2 points, 53.0 FG%</strong></p> <p>Lamonte looks primed to have a breakout year for the Wildcats following a number of key losses to graduation.
