Preseason Player of the Year: 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956876" first="Chase" last="Henderson"], Hoover

A skilled junior guard who recently picked up his first Division I offer (South Dakota), Henderson can impact the game on both ends of the floor with his quickness and talent. He has limitless range, gets others involved, and can break down the defense and get to the bucket, where he has really improved as a finisher.

First Team

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956876" first="Chase" last="Henderson"], Hoover: 17.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.1 steals

The division’s leading returning returnee in both scoring and assists, Henderson can impact the game in a multitude of ways. He’ll pair with Vos to give the Huskies one of the best one-two punches in the class.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956869" first="Elijah" last="Vos"], Hoover: 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 51.3 FG%, 48.1 3P%, 76.9 FT%

A big, physical 6-5 wing who can fill it up from all three levels, Vos is remarkably efficient, posting 51-48-77 shooting splits as a sophomore. With more shots opening up following the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id="727866" first="Manny" last="Austin"], Vos could establish himself as one of the state’s best scoring threats this season.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1171658" first="Trovary" last="Cavil"], Lincoln: 15.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 steals

Cavil had a really successful freshman year for the Railsplitters, putting up 15 points a game. Over the summer, he put forth an effort to improve his shot selection and efficiency, which should benefit his numbers and Lincoln as a whole this year. Armed with a dynamic mid-range game and excellent handles, Cavil will be an offensive force for the next three seasons.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167710" first="Sam" last="King"], Roosevelt: 11.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 83.3 FT%

A 6-3 wing with a nice mid-range game, King led the Roughriders in scoring last season and is improving as a playmaker and with his efficiency. Roosevelt has a good amount of talent coming back, especially in their 2023 class, and King is the headliner of that group.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1171694" first="Tyron" last="Wright"], East: 10.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 50.0 FG%

Wright is an athletic 6-6 forward who led 4A in rebounding last season as a freshman. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he plays with a lot of energy, has great hands, and is a fantastic athlete who rebounds at an extremely high clip. As he continues to develop his offensive skill set, watch out!

Second Team

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158446" first="Adam" last="Greiner"], Ottumwa

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167733" first="Jamison" last="Patton"], Roosevelt

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1171699" first="Ja’Vion" last="Bell"], Lincoln

2023 Jamal West, Lincoln

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167697" first="George" last="Williams"], Roosevelt

2023 Kobrom Mikele, East
2024 JeCari Patton, East
2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1235022" first="Victor" last="Hatungimana"], Lincoln
