Basketball Stars Standing out in Football: SD 2.0

Earlier this week we looked at players from South Dakota that are exceptional in both basketball and football. This is a follow-up article on more standouts from SD. <h2>BASKETBALL STARS & FOOTBALL STANDOUTS</h2> [player_tooltip player_id="963779" first="Blake" last="Thompson"] (2023) |6-0 G| Tea Area A gritty and tough player in both sports. Blake will produce and play important minutes for the Titans this winter. In football Thompson is a shutdown corner that matches up with the opposing team’s top WR. Blake is tough in coverage and he is great at coming up to stuff the run. Look for this BIG man to play a pivotal role in all the W’s the Bulldog’s pick up in the coming season. At 6’9" 260 lbs, he is a tough player on both sides of the line. He is an excellent shooter from mid-range and is lethal with his floater. On the football field Long is a marvelous wideout. He can turn a 7-yard slant reception into 6 points in a heartbeat. Cooper has big play ability. He is a great fade route runner and he excels at high pointing the ball. Anderson is long and bouncy. He is a gamechanger with his length and athleticism. In football, Matthew is a DUDE. He is the #6 ranked football prospect on Prep Redzone Dakotas. Anderson is a mismatch when it comes to every DB he faces because of his size. He is great at the fade and he has great hands no matter the route. This kid looks like he will be playing college ball in whichever sport he chooses. [player_tooltip player_id="963787" first="Randy" last="Rosenquist"] (2023) |6-1 G| Dakota Valley FB Position |WR/DB| In basketball, he is a thief on defense. Randy is a smart and tough defender. He will be a key piece in the Panther’s success in the coming basketball season. In football, Rosenquist is a game-changer on O as a wideout. Vernon/Plankinton FB Position |QB/LB| In high school ball Rus was a machine last year who averaged 20 ppg, 9 rpg, and 4.2 ast. I can’t imagine what his numbers will look like this season. In AAU ball, Reed ran with SD Attack and everything went well. He brought the energy and toughness that his team needed. On the gridiron Rus is a playmaker. His uncle is Chad Greenway, so football is in his blood. Rus will have options to play football and basketball at the next level. Reed is an all-around gifted player in both sports. Reis is as physical as they come. Expect big things from him in the basketball season. In football Reis is a top player for Tea. He is a sack machine that will break the school record. He gets it done on both ends of the court. In football, he is a great wideout. Washington took Harrisburg into OT last night and Tommy had a big TD. Do not sleep on Peterson, he is a standout in everything he does. [player_tooltip player_id="968174" first="Tory" last="Holland"] (2022) |6-3 F| De Smet FB Position |TE/LB| He is a physical player that can do everything in hoops. He knows how to win and he is good at it. In football, Tory is an important part of the Bulldog defense. They have not allowed a point in the last 3 weeks. Holland is a baller at both sports. The Bulldogs will be chasing titles on football and basketball this year.
