I heard "It Was A Good Day" on the radio and it got me thinking!

What Florida prospects have the best chance to "mess around" and get a triple-double? This is another accomplishment that is not easy to do. The one person with little trouble doing it was 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="818705" first="Taderrius" last="Davis"]. The 6-foot-7 wing from Miami High was a one-man show.

Let’s look into some picks...

[player_tooltip player_id="1161407" first="Adrian" last="Cruz"] - Sagemont

This is an easy one because 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1161407" first="Adrian" last="Cruz"] did it for Miami Southwest last season. The 6-foot-2 point guard had 24 points, 12 rebounds and ten assists against Miami Palmetto. In fact, Cruz almost had a quadruple-double against Coral Park with 19 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. In both of those games, he shot a combined 19-of-42 (45 percent) from the floor. Therefore, it wasn’t like Cruz was chucking up shots at a low volume. Cruz is a tough-kid with excellent passing skills. His switch to Sagemont should result in more exposure.

[player_tooltip player_id="712125" first="Kuran" last="Bryant"] - Coral Gables

Per MaxPreps, 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="712125" first="Kuran" last="Bryant"] led the state in rebounds (17.5) per game. The 6-foot-5 forward also averaged 20.5 points per contest according to the page. If you look at the numbers closely, Bryant had some gaudy numbers that might make you question the information. Regardless, Bryant is highly athletic and has the length to control the glass. He essentially looks like a football player and will bully lighter players in the paint. Therefore, he will be a tough person to defend for guards or forwards. UPDATE: [player_tooltip player_id="712125" first="Kuran" last="Bryant"] is now at Miami High.

[player_tooltip player_id="814984" first="Rickey" last="Ballard"] - Westminster Academy

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814984" first="Rickey" last="Ballard"] is a name I mention quite often. The bottom line is he’s a 6-foot-7 wing that can score off the dribble and grab rebounds with his length. Ballard’s athleticism will also be a problem in transition. He will multiply assists with help from great teammates that can score. When you have a mismatch like Ballard, chances are you’re able to contribute in multiple categories. I would also add he plays with a motor. I’d bet on Ballard grabbing loose rebounds or contested boards off the glass. He’s going to be a great college addition once his time at Westminster Academy is over. Ballard is a Swiss-Army knife on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="709232" first="Osmar" last="Garcia Araujo"] - Riviera Prep/Shabazz Elite

It’s been awhile since I mentioned 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709232" first="Osmar" last="Garcia Araujo"]. Riviera Prep did not play last season and I haven’t see him since. What I can tell you is he impressed me as a freshman against Chaminade-Madonna. The 6-foot-7 forward had really good footwork and was an excellent passer around the paint. He did this against current Florida Gulf Coast center [player_tooltip player_id="827901" first="Andre" last="Weir"].I assume Garcia Araujo is even more polished now. He’s a big body that can finish around the rim. Garcia Araujo has excellent fundamentals and plays with poise on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="812637" first="Greg" last="Spate"] - Coral Springs

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="812637" first="Greg" last="Spate"] could easily accomplish this feat as a junior. The 6-foot-6 prospect can dish out assists as a guard and rebound like a forward. As a sophomore, Spate averaged 14 points and six rebounds per game. He has since added more muscle and crushed the Keiser team camp this summer. Spate has been offered by Samford. Furthermore, he has received calls from FIU, St. John’s, Dayton, South Dakota State, Toledo and FAMU. Spate is a nightmare for opposing coaches to game plan for.
