The GMC is one of the top conferences in the Garden State with programs capable of making noise this season. Seton Hall commit [player_tooltip player_id="787644" first="Jaquan" last="Harris"] is the reigning Conference Player of the Year, but he is not the only player capable of making a big impact this season. Here are the top under the radar prospects set for big seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id="1025373" first="Yathin" last="Vemula"], 6’0 PG South Brunswick 2022

Vemula has been a steady presence in the back court for the Vikings and should lead the offense in his final varsity season. The 6’0 floor general plays with composure on the ball and is unafraid of the big moment as he hit the game-winning layup against Marlboro to win the Central Jersey Group 4 title. Vemula has a nice release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Vemula is a consistent point guard prospect who should continue to make plays for South Brunswick this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013074" first="Chris" last="Santner"], 6’8 PF St. Thomas Aquinas 2023

Santner will be making his debut in the GMC this season after transferring in from Roselle Catholic in the offseason. The 6’8 forward has a nice touch around the basket and plays with good footwork down low. Santner has the ability to knock down mid-range jumpers as he has a nice release on his free throws. He attacks the glass at both ends of the floor and talks on the defensive end. Santner is a hard-working forward prospect who should have a strong junior campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id="1153996" first="Jaden" last="Kelly"], 6’4 SG St. Thomas Aquinas 2024

Kelly will probably start the season coming off the bench, but he is still slated for a big-time year in 2021-22. The 6’4 wing has a nice handle, which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the rim. Kelly is more than just a slasher as he has a good shooting stroke and sets his feet before he shoots. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and has the potential to defend multiple positions. Kelly is one of the more under the radar prospects in the 2024 class and that could change after this season.

Mekhai Huey, 5’10 PG Wardlaw-Hartridge 2022

Huey has been putting up big numbers for the Rams in each of the last two seasons and that should not change this season. The 5’10 guard is lightning quick with the ball in his hands as opponents struggle to keep him out of the lane. Huey is a crafty finisher around the basket and is unafraid of drawing contact. He has some of the quickest hands in the state as he has recorded over 200 steals in the last two seasons. Huey’s speed and two-way ability makes him an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on this year.

Brandon Dean, 5’10 PG South Plainfield 2023

Dean helped lead South Plainfield to an 11-4 record last season and should do even more for the Tigers this season. The 5’10 guard has a clean shooting stroke as he wastes little motion in getting his jumper off. Dean is capable of shooting from either off the catch or dribble, making him an even more dangerous scoring option. He has a nice handle and does not force the issue in the half court. Dean is a scoring lead guard who should have a big junior season for South Plainfield.

[player_tooltip player_id="1202189" first="Billy" last="Anderson"], 6’8 PF Colonia 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1013102" first="Keyshawn" last="Winchester"], 5’7 PG JP Stevens 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="901994" first="Josiah" last="Brown"], 5’8 PG New Brunswick 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1150832" first="Michael" last="Salvatore"], 5’11 PG Middlesex 2022
