1.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682284" first="Karter" last="Petzenhauser"] (Spencer) - 23.1 points a game

A long, springy wing, Petzenhauser has really improved his efficiency numbers over the last few years and established himself as one of the best scorers in the state, regardless of class. He posted 55-39-75 shooting splits last year, showcasing his ability to get to the rim as well as a silky stroke from deep. He can create his own looks at a high level and has a smooth, repeatable release on his jumper. His 166 free-throw attempts led 3A last year.

2.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167688" first="Max" last="Wheaton"] (Fairfield) - 19.6

A big, efficient 6-4 forward, Wheaton shot nearly 55% from the floor, using his size and physicality to finish around the rim. He’s working to extend his range, which would make him an even more dangerous offensive weapon for the Trojans.

3.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682289" first="Jevin" last="Sullivan"] (North Polk) - 19.3

A big, physical wing who is built like a linebacker, Sullivan has picked up a pair of Division I offers from UMKC and Augustana (SD). He does a great job using his strength, length, and footwork to get to the rim for finishes, and he’s armed with a silky smooth jumper and range well beyond the 3-point line. His 138 free-throw attempts ranked third in the class last year, and he converts his freebies at a high clip.

4.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682292" first="Carson" last="Toebe"] (Clear Lake) - 19.0

An elite shot-making guard, Toebe has good size and he uses his strong body to bully his way to the rim. He has a really nice pull-up jumper, stopping on a dime and elevating into his shot, and he has the ability to make tough, off-balance shots. Toebe is also a gifted passer with excellent court vision who dished out 4.2 assists a game as a junior.

5.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956874" first="Colby" last="Collison"] (Bondurant-Farrar) - 18.7

A 6-4 wing who lets the game come to him, Collison is a versatile scorer who is equally adept getting to the rim or filling it up from the mid-range and arc. He has a keen sense of when he needs to take over as a scorer, and he doesn’t force anything. He’s a big-time scorer, but he’s willing to pass up his own good shot for a teammate’s great shot.

6.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682270" first="Cole" last="Glasgow"] (Dallas Center-Grimes) - 16.6

Glasgow is an athletic freak on the perimeter, and a very talented three-level scorer who has seen the mid-major offers pile up over the last several months. He’s a physical wing who is equally adept pulling up and burying 3s over defenders or using his athleticism and strength to get to the rim for tough finishes.

7.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1158412" first="Levi" last="Gurwell"] (Winterset) - 16.5

Gurwell burst onto the scene last year, leading the Huskies with 16.5 points a game. He’s not an overwhelming athlete, but he does a great job changing his speeds to get by defenders, and he has excellent footwork that he uses to create space to get his shot off. He’s an adept three-level scorer who can also facilitate.

8.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962688" first="Dayton" last="Davis"] (Fort Madison) - 16.3

A 6-4 forward who can create his own shot or dominate the paint against smaller defenders, Davis also crashes the offensive glass hard. He pulled down 96 offensive boards a game last year, nearly five a contest, and that certainly contributes to his lofty scoring total as well.

9.) 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962491" first="Ashton" last="Hermann"] (Ballard) - 16.2

A quick, athletic wing who does a great job using his length and speed to create chaos on the defensive end, few players in the state are better at turning defense into offense than Hermann. Following the graduations of [player_tooltip player_id="964880" first="Mason" last="Murphy"] and [player_tooltip player_id="796112" first="Connor" last="Drew"], among others, more shot attempts will be available, and this dynamic two-way player could be a darkhorse to lead the state in scoring. When he gets cooking, he can light up the scoreboard in a hurry.

10.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167713" first="Ayden" last="Klein"] (MOC-Floyd Valley) - 16.1

The 5-10 guard is a solid three-level scorer, with 50% of his scoring coming from inside the arc, and the other 50% from behind the arc or at the free-throw line. He has the ability to create his own shot, but he also moves well off the ball and is a talented shooter off the catch.
