A look at the players to watch this week at the Las Vegas Big Ten and Las Vegas Classic during the final week of the July evaluation period...

[player_tooltip player_id="1240336" first="Amari" last="Allen"] - 2025 - W - Wisconsin Playground Club

Haven’t seen everyone yet, but Allen certainly has a good chance to be the top ranked player in Wisconsin’s 2025 class to start. Allen has had a big summer playing up a level, sometimes multiple levels. The incoming freshman, who will attend Kaukauna High School, is a good-looking 6-foot-5 wing who can slash and shoot the basketball. He’s also got the tools and instincts to be a lockdown defender if he works at it. Would expect high major programs to jump in early on this one as Marquette and Wisconsin are already eyeing Allen up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1019163" first="Aiden" last="Chislom"] - 2023 - F - Wisconsin Starz

A versatile combo forward, Chislom figures to be one of the better talents in the Badger South Conference this winter. His older brother, Trevon, who now plays at UW-Whitewater, was a late bloomer and Aiden has some similar characteristics. Chislom is probably a little more skilled at this stage, able to play point forward and create matchup problems. The 6-foot-5 sophomore shows flashes as a shooter and can defend multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id="1240337" first="Jake" last="Hansen"] - 2025 - SG - Wisconsin Playground Club

Hansen can be one of the top shooters in the country. He has that innate ability where open 3-pointers feel like layups. While playing up in the 15U level and varsity summer league for Wauwatosa West, Hansen has hit some big shots and the moment isn’t too large for him. Size will be question mark, but there’s always room on the floor for deadly shooters like Hansen.

[player_tooltip player_id="1043749" first="Emmett" last="Lawton"] - 2023 - G - Team 1848

Lawton is going to make a substantial move in the class of 2023 rankings. Coming off a big weekend in Appleton, Lawton is listed at 6-foot-1, but some added length allows him to play much bigger. He’s a better athlete than he looks and is very comfortable scoring in a variety of ways. Like how smooth and natural Lawton is running off screens and catching and shooting with a hand in his face. Not a guy that over dribbles and plays outside the system. Lawton can score effectively within the flow of the offense and gets to the rim in two bounces or less consistently.

[player_tooltip player_id="1024443" first="A.J." last="Lieuwen"] - 2023 - G - Team 1848

Lieuwen was one of the biggest stock boosters in the spring. The 6-foot combo guard held his own against high level competition this spring and put together some eye-opening performances. As a sophomore, he averaged around 11 points per game, while shooting 54 percent from the field, including 42 percent from downtown. A guard with pace and the ability to score in isolation settings, Lieuwen is a deadly pull-up jump shooter. He pairs that with playmaking ability on the ball, constantly attacking high percentage areas and probing with the basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1190379" first="Chris" last="Mitchell"] - 2022 - G - Team 1848

One of the bigger under the radar juniors in Wisconsin right now, Mitchell is having a nice travel season. With Northern Michigan commit [player_tooltip player_id="988981" first="Landon" last="Van Calster"] out, Mitchell’s touches are going to go up in Vegas. A shifty scoring guard that can create early offense, Mitchell is a comfortable pull-up jump shooter off the dribble. A prospect that really does well changing direction in the halfcourt and getting his defender off-balance, Mitchell can fill it up in the 12-18 foot range. Also a two-way player, Mitchell gets his job done defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id="1240335" first="Kai" last="Rogers"] - 2025 - F/C - Wisconsin Playground Club

Expected to be one of the top players in Wisconsin’s 2025 class, Rogers is a load at 6-foot-10. He’s a dominant paint presence that flashes some really nice moves in the post. He’ll need to work on his body, get leaner, and be able to move his feet in space as opposing bigs want to pull Rogers away from the rim, however, 1-on-1 on the block, there aren’t many players in the country that survive against Rogers without the help of a double team. Rogers is seeing so many different looks early, which should really help his development in terms of passing out of double teams, catching in traffic, and not panicking or putting the ball on the ground when he’s swarmed in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1026710" first="Daniel" last="Robinson"] - 2023 - SG - Wisconsin Playground Club PH

A bulldog on the floor, Robinson is going to play up in the 17U Division this week. Robinson can spark his offense with tenacious on-ball defense. An improving shooter, Robinson has taken his game to another level this summer from beyond the arc. Also an athletic, downhill scorer, Robinson is a threat in transition and can make some athletic plays at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="761401" first="Marshawn" last="Robinson"] - 2022 - SG - Wisconsin Playground Club

[caption id="attachment_1010108" align="alignright" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="761401" first="Marshawn" last="Robinson"][/caption]

This will be a big week for Robinson, who’s flown under the radar his whole career. Robinson has a prototypical isolation scoring skillset from the two-guard spot. He’s got the handle and high shooting stroke to create shots and get a good look at just about any time. Also an explosive athlete, Robinson plays above the rim when gets out and goes in transition. What really makes Robinson an intriguing prospect too is his point guard feel. He’s an unselfish playmaker that’s really a pass-first guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="1028771" first="Ryan" last="Sweeney"] - 2022 - G - Team 1848

Division 2 programs need to make sure to catch Sweeney this week. The 6-foot-2 combo guard broke out in the spring. The Green Bay East star can absolutely go with the basketball. He’s a slim, lanky kid, but don’t let that fool you. If Sweeney gets the ball in the open floor and is in a foot race, he’s winning it. Also a prospect with some surprising above the rim bounce, Sweeney showed improved ability in the halfcourt. He was able to break guys down, adjust his shot mid-air, and finish against length/athleticism consistently. The jump shot was a question mark earlier in his career, but Sweeney appears to be steadily improving that area of his game.

Willie Williams Jr. - 2024 - G - Wisconsin Rise

Interested to see what Williams can do on a more national scale. An athletic, attacking, downhill guard, Williams is a top 15 prospect in Wisconsin’s 2024 class right now. He’ll need to expand his game more from the rim as his career goes on and learn not to dribble into traffic so much, but as of now, Williams can live in the paint. He’s got an aggressive mindset and a motor with no off-switch.
