We have officially updated our class of 2023 rankings in the class of Virginia, and expanding to 100 prospects has brought a lot of new faces to the table! With over 45 new names in the class, it will take a few articles for us to highlight every new prospect in the rankings, but we are determined to do so! Here’s a look at part four!

Check out the full rankings here.

#68 [player_tooltip player_id="1241903" first="Trey" last="Chapman"] | 6’4” SF | Veritas

Chapman will be part of an impressive wing duo with fellow sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="1241904" first="Sidney" last="Townsend"] and when I watched them he showed good athleticism and length, along with a solid skill set and tons of upside. He’s long and lengthy and can guard multiple positions, he can make plays off the bounce and stick it from deep and as he fills out and polishes up he has a chance to be very good moving forward.

#70 [player_tooltip player_id="962805" first="Darrell" last="Johnson"] | 6’6” PF | Fairfax Christian

Johnson will be part of the upstart Fairfax Christian team as he reclassified and is transferring there from Patriot High School and he looked much improved from what I saw this summer. He’s grown a few inches to 6’6” and has added muscle to an already impressive frame, he can bully guys in the paint but also can step out and shoot it out to 15 feet and he can run the floor and play in transition as well.

#73 [player_tooltip player_id="962810" first="Gibraltar" last="Coleman"] | 6’6” PF | Flint Hill

Coleman is another big who transferred and will reclassify this year but will do so at Flint Hill that has a very talented team already and he provides a versatile scoring mismatch at his position. Coleman is highly skilled as he can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange, he can put it on the deck and get to spots and he’s strong in the paint and rebounds well too.

#74 [player_tooltip player_id="1241904" first="Sidney" last="Townsend"] | 6’4” SF | Veritas

Townsend is another impressive long term wing prospect in the 757 who is just now getting on the scene and has a lot of potential moving forward. He’s long and a good athlete that brings versatility on both ends, he can stick it from deep when he’s open and has the ability to get hot quickly and fill it up and he can play above the rim in transition too.

#76 [player_tooltip player_id="1241905" first="Corey" last="Caulker"] | 5’11” PG | Fairfax Christian

Caulker is the third of the new Fairfax Christian prospects in the updated rankings and he’ll be part of a solid backcourt with fellow point guard and 2022 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="1107844" first="Ryan" last="Blakey"]. Caulker is a throwback style floor general that can initiate the offense off the bounce and make plays for others easily, he can knock down shots when he’s left open and he sets the tone on both ends of the floor.

#79 [player_tooltip player_id="1241925" first="Paul" last="Williams"] | 6’8” C | Walsingham

Williams is a multisport athlete and a very high academic prospect out of Walsingham that looks like a solid long term project moving forward. At 6’8” he’s a load in the paint but he’s also deceptively quick and bouncy allowing him to catch and finish above the rim, he has good hands and feet with his back to the basket and he shows touch out to 15 feet and defensively he can alter and challenge shots without fouling in the paint.

#82 [player_tooltip player_id="999646" first="Chris" last="Cyrus"] | 6’2” SG | Woodside

Cyrus is part of a young and talented Woodside team with three prospects in the 2023 rankings, and he’s a guy who can score it in bunches and in a number of ways. The 6’2” off guard can knock down shots from deep with consistency, he can put it on the deck and get to spots to make shots off the bounce and he plays with good energy on both ends too.

#84 [player_tooltip player_id="1241906" first="Logan" last="Hoit"] | 6’7” C | Meadowbrook

Hoit is still a project but at 6’7” and the way he’s transformed his body and improved already, he could be one of the top bigs in the Richmond area in the next few years. He’s a load in the paint and he shows good hands and feet, he has soft touch around the rim and while he still needs to work on his conditioning he has improved his body and plays with good energy when he’s on the floor.

#86 [player_tooltip player_id="1241907" first="Sidney" last="Burris"] | 6’2” SG | VA Academy

Burris is part of a VA Academy team to keep an eye on in the next few years as new coach Jay Haggler has already amassed a good amount of talent, and he plays with toughness and a solid skill set you have to love. He can knock it down consistently from deep, he’s fast in transition and pretty explosive when he’s at the rim and he brings it every time he’s on the floor.
