On July 8th-11th I attended the Under Armour Circuit at Lake Point Sporting Complex in Emerson/GA.

I watched over 40 teams but I will focus solely on the AZ players who shined.

The 3 local AZ teams were the Arizona Select 15-17U teams and there were a couple other teams that had AZ players.

Here were 15 that caught my eye:

[player_tooltip player_id="826996" first="Patrick" last="Chew"] Brophy Prep (Arizona Select)

-Chew continued his hot month of strong play. He rebounds, blocks shots, collects steals and literally guards 1-5 in a pinch. His IQ and passing had coaches impressed. Played a little point forward for the local team and gets downhill well. He hit some jumpers and plays harder then most.

[player_tooltip player_id="706704" first="Dominic" last="Capriotti"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select)

-The shooter of the team did just that. He was bombs away many games. Even certain games where the team had a lid on the basket, it was Capriotti cashing in on some deep triples. He is rebounding the ball better and when he sets his feet off the catch, it’s money. He also made shots off of curls and elevators. He recently de-committed from Northern Colorado.

[player_tooltip player_id="1011614" first="Garrett" last="Anderson"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select)

-A high flyer who is just scratching the surface. He shoots the 3pt shot better than expected and is a very graceful athlete. He has deep range on his shot and is a real runner on the break with speed. He can take the ball to the basket and score it with long strides. He rebounds high above the crowd and will help on blocking shots. A former stud baseball pitcher has moved over to the hardwood.

[player_tooltip player_id="1158869" first="Pierce" last="Bazil"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select)

-A high IQ PG with a good feel for the game. He has some moxy to his game and inner confidence. He seemed to get better every game getting adjusted to the high competition. He hits 3’s off the catch and has a nice burst to get into the lane. He can drive and kick it to a shooter and has open court speed with a tighter handle.

[player_tooltip player_id="809683" first="Nicholas" last="Riley"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select)

-A big post player is a true five-man. He keeps plays alive on the glass due to his length and size. He grabs rebounds with two hands and has a small hook shot with a nice touch inside using his massive hands.

[player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Roosevelt" last="Washington"] Mountain Pointe (Arizona Select 16)

-Not many players had a better weekend than Tru. He had some monster games filling out stat sheets with 20+ points and 15+ rebounds. He may be the best undersized rebounder I have seen in years with an elite second jump. His motor, drive and toughness are relentless to win a game and do whatever he needs. He impressed with how well he shot the ball. He hit multiple 3’s off the catch, off the pull and had his usual mid-range pull-up clicking off the dribble. He is best getting downhill with euros and taking it to the chest of his opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id="831117" first="Arman" last="Madi"] Brophy Prep (Arizona Select 16)

-A bigger scoring wing with some athleticism and high skill. He has deep range on his 3-ball and can post up defenders plus get downhill. He creates his own shot decently and will score it in traffic, but is best off the catch. He rebounds well in his area and is a good helper on the weak side to block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id="831122" first="Vincent" last="Delano"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select 16)

-There were not many better shooters at the UAA 16U division then Delano from the 3pt line off the catch. He hit nearly 5 in every game and did some in style, including a game winner in OT vs Team Breakdown for a team win. He also has a mean 1-2 dribble pull-up from mid-range. He gets high elevation on it and is looks picture perfect. He makes good reads with the ball and is more athletic then he appears.

[player_tooltip player_id="936765" first="Trey" last="Brown"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select 16)

-The mystery of the local team is Brown. He is still growing and he still has his guard skills. He plays like a point forward and is very unselfish. He defends on the perimeter plus inside versus the post players with his new size. He can hit the 3 and get downhill.

[player_tooltip player_id="831118" first="Emery" last="Young"] Centennial (Arizona Select 16)

-A thicker two-guard is a two-way player. He defends multiple positions and can make shots. He had some good stretches shooting the ball from the 3pt line off the catch. He can guard inside versus PF’s then switch to PG’s with his toughness and he rebounds the ball at a good rate for position.

[player_tooltip player_id="814521" first="Aadem" last="Isai"] Valley Vista (Las Vegas Punishers 16)

-A high IQ combo guard has a good feel for the game. He can really shoot it with range and brings a toughness about him. He can pass it with either hand and changes speeds well. He is consistently making winning plays and takes charges on the norm.

[player_tooltip player_id="814526" first="Ashton" last="Reese"] Pinnacle (West Coast Elite 16)

-The true specialist of the Cali team is Reese. His catch and shoot game is so quick. He has a decent size for a wing and smartly relocates to open spots on the court. He is a good passer and he should be huge for the Pioneers next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123040" first="Anthony" last="Batson Jr"] Notre Dame Prep (Arizona Select 15) (Pictured)

-A good showing for Batson Jr. He shoots the 3 with some consistency and plays above the rim. He loves going baseline with a quick first step and rising up and flushing it down with his easy bounce and long arms. He is a good help defender as a shot blocker and rebounds well.

[player_tooltip player_id="996166" first="Braeden" last="Speed"] Brophy Prep (Arizona Select 15)

-A versatile guard who is fast in the open court and has great size. He has a nice basketball body and is a long strider into the lane. He knows how to use his body and spin off of his defenders to get closer to the cup and score it. He defends multiple positions and he always seems to be in the right spot on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="996168" first="Evan" last="Coates"] Phhoenix Prep (Arizona Select 15)

-Looking for size and upside, Coates is your guy. He is more of a true 5-man then a fluid skilled-4 like his older brother Will. He rebounds well with his girth, size and length. He also blocks shots in his area and scores it on put backs. He makes occasional 3’s but he isn’t polished with it yet.
