PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine Evaluations
The annual @PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine featured nearly 50 aspiring college prospects. For the rest of July we will be featuring the campers with evaluations and measurements from the day.
Look for the next combine in September of 2021, this time in middle Tennessee!
Luke Iosia | 6’2” PG | Cleveland
Host gym Cleveland High School is a familiar setting for sophomore Luke Iosia. The ambitious guard spends much of his free time seeking out and competing in basketball camps and combines. His game is maturing as his physicality also matures.

NBA Stylistic Comparison: 2021 Kings Kyle Guy
Luke is and will be a point guard at the high school level. Right now Cleveland High is loaded with guard talent, which certainly creates a bit of a logjam. If Iosia can help CHS this season, then Head Coach Reggie Tucker will find minutes for him. What does Luke do especially well?
Good basketball comprehension. Comfortable playing on or off the ball.
Luke Iosia did record a remarkably consistent 3/4 court sprint time, a time that landed him near the slower quarter of the pack. Foot speed is imperative for a guard, so this is an area in need of improvement.
There is an innate quickness to Luke’s halfcourt game. Though he currently lacks the ability to completely carve up a defense the potential is there if he develops his handle at a rapid pace. Luke was just ok shooting challenged jumpers in the “closeout” drill.
His entire game needs to improve, as with any sophomore in Tennessee, to achieve the college basketball dream. Primarily, Luke needs to improve his shooting off the dribble and incorporate more innovative and creative dribbles.

College Projection: NAIA- / NAIA
Decently fast, Aaron finished his lane agility with sub-12 times. Smith’s best sprint time was 3.38 seconds from baseline to opposing free throw line. Regardless of whether his first or second lane agility time is more reflective, Smith is a burner. His times sorted him eighth among all campers in the ability to traverse the lane in the rectangular agility drill.
Aaron Smith Aaron Smith 5'11" | PG Cleveland | 2024 TN will be a sophomore for Cleveland High School. The program is spearheaded by Jasen Brooks Jasen Brooks 6'1" | PG Cleveland | 2023 State TN , again a dynamic lead guard capable of playing 28 minutes a night. For this reason alone, Smith will not see minutes at the varsity point spot this season. What does Aaron Smith Aaron Smith 5'11" | PG Cleveland | 2024 TN do well? Check out this clip of his versatility.
Unseen in this highlight is an airball two possessions prior, after which Aaron shook his head and played on. He was not at all hesitant when the ball found him again on the play you see above. Smith took the shot that the possession presented to him and buried it.
Areas for improvement in Aaron will be defensive accountability, upper body strength, improving an already plus handle into elite.
Going forward, speed, handle, and the willingness to involve teammates appear to be his strengths.
