Prep Hoops Exclusive: Friday Afternoon Standouts (Guards)

<p>The 2021 Prep Hoops Exclusive started Friday afternoon at Drive Nation in Irving, Texas, and is hosting nearly 100 teams in the 17U division alone. Here are some of the standouts that I saw on Friday afternoon.<a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0124.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1090485 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0124-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="684398" first="Jimel" last="Cofer"] - Max Levels Elite - G</strong></p> <p>Cofer finished with 19 points in Max Levels Elite’s loss to Judah Nation and got to the bucket with ease. The strongest attribute of his game is his ability to get to the basket and finish through contact. He is also solid defensively as he drew a charge and blocked a shot while playing great perimeter defense.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/07/Bronson.jpeg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1236067 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/07/Bronson-150x150.jpeg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="962519" first="Eddrin" last="Bronson"] - Judah Nation - G</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="962519" first="Eddrin" last="Bronson"] was a human flamethrower in Judah Nation’s 65-44 win over Max Levels Elite as he finished with 23 points while knocking down four three-pointers. He shoots best off the catch and possesses a good combination of confidence and range. Bronson is also a solid finisher when driving to the basket and he finishes well through contact.<a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/07/IMG_5128-rotated-crop-3025x1986-1626491811.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1238719 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/07/IMG_5128-rotated-crop-3025x1986-1626491811-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="829444" first="Jah" last="Quinones"] - Judah Nation - G</strong></p> <p>Quinones was the primary ball-handler in Judah Nation’s win over Max Levels Elite and showed that he is a great floor general. He finished with nine points and took excellent care of the ball. He has a nice floater and also showed that his range stretches out to NBA range. Quinones also dished out multiple assists including an excellent lob to his big man in the half-court.</p> <p><strong>Osiris Nalls - BTI - G</strong></p> <p>Osiris Nalls was easily the best shooter I saw all day today and his ability to score in the pick and roll was on display. Any time that a P.L.U.T.O. defender would go under a screen he would just shoot it from multiple feet behind the three-point line and was making these deep threes at a high rate. <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/08/Sam-Howery.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1033373 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/08/Sam-Howery-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="918901" first="Sam" last="Howery"] - P.L.U.T.O. - G</strong></p> <p>Howery was one of the best two-way point guards that I saw on Saturday as he is a great passer and finisher and also a scrappy defender that forces turnovers. He has the ability to finish through traffic but his passing ability was what stuck out to me in P.L.U.T.O.’s win over BTI. He always finds the open man and gets all of his teammates involved. <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/09/237-Bennie-McDuffie-II.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1054232 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/09/237-Bennie-McDuffie-II-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1065462" first="Bennie" last="McDuffie"] - North Florida United - G</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1065462" first="Bennie" last="McDuffie"] played with great energy in North Florida United’s game against SSA and he played great defense. He used his quickness to blow by defenders and finish at the rim and he also played great on-ball defense. </p>
