On July 3rd-4th I attended the Brawl for the Ball Prep Hoops Circuit at Inspire Courts in Gilbert. AZ. The event featured 40 teams from the 15U-17U divisions.

Players shine at different times during these events and we can only comment on what we saw when they played in front of us.

Here were some local newcomers that shined:

[player_tooltip player_id="1230471" first="Fareed" last="Burton Jr"] Taylor Made Prep (Team RHJ 2022) (Pictured)

-A natural scoring PG is a very good passer. He has a real burst to go along with his tight handle. He made some nice advance passes and can drive and kick it out. He has a nice 3pt stroke but definitely prefers to get into the lane and can use the floater.

-A long and athletic post player runs the floor well. He rebounds the ball with a good motor and keeps plays alive on the glass using his length and gifts. He can throw it down easily above the rim and is a true rim runner. Most of his points come in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1230473" first="Jabar" last="Wheatley Jr"] Taylor Made Prep (Team RHJ 2022)

-A strong downhill guard loves to attack the basket. He can rip through off the bounce and score it through contact with his sturdy frame. He is a capable 3pt shooter and he can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. He gets high elevation on his shot and is also a tough on-ball defender plus a good rebounder in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id="1230508" first="Kamden" last="Sekaquaptewa"] Saguaro (Northwind 2022)

-My first time viewing him and came away impressed. He is a 3 and D type with a high IQ. He is mostly a catch 3pt shooter but he can put the ball on the deck a little. He has good length and moves his feet to keep his man in front. He is a good passer, he rebounds well and knows his role. He signed with Haskel Indians Nation University on July 1st.

[player_tooltip player_id="1230509" first="Jonathan" last="Kearney"] Arizona College Prep (Uptempo Elite 2023)

-A cerebral combo guard makes good decisions with the ball and can score it. He has the floater and uses runners plus he can shoot it. He has a nice looking 3pt shot and the mid-range pull-up is in his game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1230562" first="Albrandon" last="Byjoe"] Monument Valley (N. AZ Footprint)

-A smooth guard who can score it. The lefty can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line and plays with a high IQ. He knows when to cut and move without the ball. He can create his own shot with a nice handle and pull-up off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id="1230512" first="Noah" last="Davis"] Perry (Uptempo Elite 2024)

-A fluid guard caught my eye. He has a decent wiggle with his handle and can score it off the dribble. He has a pretty looking catch-3pt shot and can shoot it off the pull. He can score it with his left hand and uses floaters.
