Jean Aranguren, Crown 2023: Aranguren is a 6’3 combo with HM potential. In Crown’s final game Sunday, they played the NJ Panthers in a much closer HGSL Final Four than expected. Aranguren led Crown from the perimeter, knocking down shots and picking apart the defense with laser sharp passing. At 6’3 with decent athleticism, his body barely makes the cut at the HM level. His lack of elite athleticism does limit his playmaking as he found it difficult to get by his defender and into the teeth of the defense to make plays. However, he is able to handle full court pressure, make simple plays, and make 3s under pressure. His elite shot making and court vision keep him an interesting prospect for HM schools.
Jaden Kealey, Crown 2022: Kealey is a 6’7 5 man that will play harder than anybody on the court. This kid works hard on defense, rebounds, and finishes around the rim. He cannot shoot or dribble, but that hasn’t kept schools off of him. The blue collar big picked up his first DI offer last weekend from Central Connecticut St. His effort and energy make him an attractive big man for D2+/LM schools.
Jeremiah Bembry, Athletes Plus 2022: Jeremiah Bembry is a 6’6 wing with a ton of upside. This athletic point forward has the size, athleticism, and IQ to be great; he just needs to put it all together. Bembry is great in transition, can finish with either hand and make the right pass when needed. In the half court, he was able to get into the lane and make plays for himself and others. He did not make a ton of outside shots but had good enough mechanics that it could easily develop at the next level. With his length he is extremely versatile on defense although he needs to gain weight to be able to bang with guys at the DI level. He currently holds multiple DI offers. Bembry did not dominate his games by any means, but with his frame, his tools and his NBA name, he is sure to draw even more suitors as the summer comes to an end.
Brady Cumins, Middlesex Magic 2022: The Middlesex Magic once again asserted their dominance winning the 17U Championship on Sunday. 6’5 athletic wing Brady Cumins was a huge part of their success. He was able to pick up a third Division I offer from Radford. He is an attractive prospect for DI MMs looking for versatility. Cumins guards the other team’s best player, plays above the rim, and like seemingly every one of Crotty’s guys, understands how to play team basketball. With ten more pounds of muscle, Brady might have been a guy for A10 and Big East programs to look into, but for now MM/MM- seems appropriate.
