These rising sophomores were on a mission to get seen at the US Amateur State Championship in Port Charlotte, Florida last weekend!

Here are the standouts from the 15U division:

Demetryus Luther, 6’5", 2024, Grassroots: Dem Boyz, High School: Lakewood

Luther had no doubt the most dominant performance of the entire weekend in the game I watched against ESA Elite. The big man was an issue on the block and finished with 35 points on an incredible 17 FGs. He was able to knock down a pair of mid range jumpers to add to the mix, but was mostly just getting his money from going immediately downhill and hitting easy layups. Nobody on the opposing team had a chance of stopping him as he went to the rack, and he fueled Dem Boyz to an easy win. Luther is an interesting prospect who could thrive in the right program over the next few years.

Angelo Blas, 6’, 2024, Grassroots: ESA Elite, High School: Imagine High at North Port

Despite the heavy loss, Blas was a standout for his ESA elite as they ran into Demetryus Luther’s Dem Boyz team. Blas showed his ability to get a lot done on the floor, but he definitely shone on the offensive side of the ball. His handle is one of the best ones I saw for his age group all weekend. This tight handle enabled him to keep the offense moving and get to the rim at a higher efficacy rate than other guards in 15U. He had great instincts and was able to get to the right spots to set teammates up or get a bucket. He definitely is one of North Port’s best young talents and will be very fun to watch over the next few years.

Luke Goldman, 6’, 2024, Grassroots: SSA Soldiers, High School: Park Vista

Goldman was THE man in the SSA Soldiers championship game against Charlotte "Swish". The Soldiers were able to get their state championship win over behind his 24 points. Goldman’s 3 point stroke was unstoppable throughout the weekend, highlighted by his 6 threes in the championship game. If Goldman can continue developing his deep shot, he will be a serious threat on a high school team within the next few years.

Jordan Attia, 5’10", 2025, Grassroots: Charlotte "Swish", High School: Charlotte

This rising freshman made his presence felt as the Charlotte "Swish" faced off against the SSA Soldiers for a chance at the state championship. In an electric back and forth with Luke Goldman, Attia and teammate [player_tooltip player_id="1163407" first="Brennen" last="Ingle"] showed that they can flat out SHOOT the ball. Attia poured in 5 triples en route to a 17 points performance in the championship game. Even though he was playing up, Attia was unafraid to get a bucket and score the basketball in the big lights.

[player_tooltip player_id="1163407" first="Brennen" last="Ingle"], 6’2", 2024, Grassroots: Charlotte "Swish", High School: Charlotte

Attia wasn’t the only one getting in on the deep action for the Swish! [player_tooltip player_id="1163407" first="Brennen" last="Ingle"] added 4 triples of his own on his way to a 19 point performance. The guard was more than just a shooter, however. His larger frame and ability to get downhill was also on display. He added 3 non-three point FGs on good drives to the basket, showing that his scoring arsenal is more developed than just a traditional 3 and D guy. Ingle will be a big impact this season for the Fighting Tarpons.
