We will be spending the next week or so breaking down our updated VA class of 2022 rankings. We continue with part two of some of the many new faces in the rankings! Be sure to stay tuned to Prep Hoops VA for even more rankings content moving forward.

You can see the entire class of 2022 rankings here!

#91 [player_tooltip player_id="1217454" first="Cooper" last="Jones"] | 5’11” PG | Walsingham

Jones is coming off of a good junior season at Walsingham and is one of the most skilled guards in the Williamsburg area. The 5’11” point guard is a guy who can work off the bounce and get to spots, he has good vision and playmaking ability and he can really knock it down from deep. He has a fluid stroke from deep with good form and good range, and he’s a high IQ player as well.

#93 [player_tooltip player_id="1217455" first="Jack" last="Vander Woude"] | 6’4” SG | Seton School

Vander Woude went from unknown to having national scouts tweeting about him at Southern Jam Fest after he went for 20 points and hit six three’s against the top AAU team in the country in Team Final, and now coaches are starting to check out the 6’4” two guard from the small private school in Manasses. He has good size on the wing, he works extremely hard off the ball and never seems to get tired and he obviously isn’t afraid of the spotlight or the chance to play against the best of the best. The lefty has a pure stroke and can make shots on the move, he has deep range and he showed he can be a secondary ball handler as well.

#94 [player_tooltip player_id="1217456" first="Kashawn" last="Cordes"] | 6’4” SF | Hermitage

Cordes is a player I have watched for a few years now, and he makes his debut after he’s really improved over the past three years and has played excellent in the times I’ve seen him this spring. A long and bouncy wing, he’s a guy who will bring a little bit of everything to his team to help them win on both ends of the floor. He’s a good defender who uses his length to get deflections and challenge shots, he can score it in multiple ways and he has a good IQ and is unselfish with the ball in his hands.

#98 [player_tooltip player_id="1217457" first="Kelvin" last="Choice"] | 6’5” PF | Glen Allen

Choice is another guy in the Richmond area who has really improved over the past few years and he’s shown this spring he can be a mismatch at the forward position with his versatility. The 6’5” Choice isn’t the tallest guy at his position but he can play in transition, he has long arms and rebounds well and he can defend multiple positions as well. He’s also a much improved shooter from deep, stretching the floor and allowing his guards opportunities to get in the lane and make plays for themselves and others.

#101 [player_tooltip player_id="1217458" first="Peter" last="Quaye"] | 6’7” C | John Marshall

Quaye often gets overlooked because he plays with such a talented group at John Marshall over the past few years, but he’s an intriguing big man who both does the dirty work and has a unique skill set as well. He’s a load in the paint that makes it tough for driving guards to get open looks, he has good hands and feet in the post and soft touch out to 18 feet as well. He’s one of the more underrated prospects in the Richmond area.

#102 [player_tooltip player_id="1217459" first="Stephen" last="Barbour"] | 6’0” SG | Glenvar

While Barbour isn’t the biggest guy at his position, he’s someone you love to have on the court with you because he brings incredible energy on both ends of the floor. He’s a big time athlete who thrives in transition with his speed and ability to play above the rim, he’s a lock down defender with good lateral quickness and he gives all-out effort for loose balls and rebounds as well. He can make shots from deep when he’s open and is a good secondary ball handler, and his energy is infectious to his team.

#103 [player_tooltip player_id="1217460" first="Lorenzo" last="Cole"] | 6’6” C | Wakefield

Cole is coming off of a big junior year at Wakefield, and he is the type of big man that coaches at the next level will love because he brings things outside of scoring that will translate immediately. He’s long and athletic and moves his feet well on the defensive end, he can alter and block shots without fouling as he has good timing and he plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. He’s a big time rebounder and can finish in the paint at and above the rim, and he’s a guy who not only is willing to but likes to do the dirty work for his team.
