I saw many teams I have never seen before from different states along with some local teams.
Here were some local 2022 standouts:
Garrison Phelps Garrison Phelps 6'6" | SG Saint Marys Catholic | 2022 State AZ St. Mary’s
-A long wing had a big weekend. He picked up an offer from Missouri State with his strong play. He showed his bounce on the break with some video like worthy dunks. He defends multiple positions and his perimeter shooting keeps improving weekly. He pulls up with nice elevation and hit from mid to the 3. He projects well as he has steadily improved each year.
Elijah Saunders Elijah Saunders 6'8" | PF Sunnyslope | 2022 State AZ Sunnyslope
-A burly forward with one of the better frames/build on the West Coast. He also comes with athleticism and skill. He can shoot it from mid and extend it to the 3pt line. He has above the rim bounce with power and grabs rebounds with two hands high above the crowd. He will block occasional shots and plays with good force. He is one of the hotter names in the state picking up near 10 offers throughout the week.
Oakland Fort Oakland Fort 5'9" | PG Sunnyslope | 2022 State AZ Sunnyslope
-An athletic lead guard flies in the open court. He is tough on the ball defensively and grabs rebounds high above the crowd with his ridiculous vertical. He pushes the ball up the court with his speed and has deep range beyond the arc. He has a nice pull-up and seems to stay in the air for a minute with nice body control once he gets into the lane.

Nathan Calmese Nathan Calmese 6'2" | PG Mesquite | 2022 State AZ Mesquite
-A smooth operator keeps shining weekly. He is a 3-level scorer who goes through stretches making it look easy. He can shoot the 3 off the catch and pull plus get into the lane while splitting defenders and using the floater. He showed more of a motor on defense blocking shots, rebounding and he made some plays for his teammates. He is a better passer than he gets credited for.
Patrick Chew Patrick Chew 6'4" | SG Brophy | 2022 State AZ Brophy Prep
-A strong guard is a physical defender and scorer. He likes attacking the basket using his tighter handle and strength. He can make the catch-3 and uses his long arms on defense to collect steals, getting deflections and rebounds the ball better then most guards. He is a team guy that does a lot of dirty work and is super competitive.
Jake Lifgren Jake Lifgren 6'2" | CG Centennial | 2022 State AZ Centennial
-An efficient scorer who has been on a tear recently. He has a nasty pull-up from mid to the 3pt line. And although he may not be that pure PG, he always seems to make the correct read off of a ball screen. He is sneaky quick to turn the corner and rises up and shoots it. Near 10 schools have reached out and don’t be surprised he earns his first scholarship shortly.
Caleb Shaw Caleb Shaw 6'3" | CG Phhprep | 2022 State AZ Valley Christian
-A recent transfer to Valley Christian and he immediately fit in. He actually is already the go-to player for the Trojans. He shoots it well with good size for position. He can play on or off the ball and has a high IQ. His release is quick from the 3pt line and has huge confidence. He hit a 3 to send the game into OT and uses his length and size in the passing lanes. The Trojans could find themselves back in the mix for a 3A Chip.
