In this article we talk about the best playmakers from this year’s Riverside Brookfield Shootout!

Devontae Hall (Hyde Park) G 6’0

Hall is hard-nosed player that gets in the lane and makes tough finishes at the rim. Brakes defenders down with strong crossover moves. Devontae definitely wants the ball in tight game situations and is smart and hungry enough to will his team to victory on any given day.

[player_tooltip player_id="939078" first="Bryce" last="Tillery"] (Hillcrest) 5’10

Bryce is a strong bodied guard who plays well off ball screens and fights hard to penetrate gaps. Tillery can score in the lane but does a great job a finding his bigs to keep the defense honest. Bryce is becoming the go to guy for the Hawks and his play at R-B showed that Hillcrest is in good hands.

Hunter Duncan (Fenwick)

A really good addition to the Friars as Duncan is a facilitating guard that found many of his teammates when they spaced out. Hunter can play off ball screens as well as break guys down off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id="925190" first="Cooper" last="Noard"] (Glenbrook South)

Noard is constantly playing hard when he’s on the court. The kid has an Energizer Batterie in his back with the attitude of never say die. He beats guys off the dribble with straight lined moves. Gets to his spot to raise up for his jump shot or create for teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048712" first="Tavari" last="Johnson"] (Lyons Township)

One of the smoothest point guards this past weekend. Tavari always seem to be two plays ahead with his slick ball handling and pinpoint passing. Johnson is surgical on ball screens but with his high school team he makes plays of drive and kicks. His feel for the game is unmatched. His ability to score and make teammates better is a huge draw.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048307" first="Ahmad" last="Henderson"] (Brother Rice)

Henderson showed this weekend that he is one of the better scorers in his class. He can shoot with the best of them but his IQ and passing makes him a top 5 PG for 2023. Ahmad is equipped with tight ball handling as well as next level speed both will help him trend upward in the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="925184" first="Damari" last="Wheeler-Thomas"] (Larkin)

Damari was fighting through a back injury this weekend but that didn’t stop him from competing. He still made several mid range shots and came up with several assists by collapsing defenses with his shifty handles to get in the lane and kick out to shooters. Damari doesn’t let his size bother him as he always attacks the rim hard looking to make a play.

[player_tooltip player_id="994687" first="Kaiden" last="Space"] (St.Rita)

So far for the month of June nobody has risen their play like Space. Half of the young Mustang duo Kaiden has done a terrific job at keeping his highly-touted big men happy with finding them easier ways to score with his passing. And when they are covered Space doesn’t hesitate to go score. As a bigger guard he uses his body to get in the lane for strong finishes. Kaiden play will continue to gain much attention from college coaches across the country.

[player_tooltip player_id="1157213" first="Jaedin" last="Reyna"] (St.Rita)

Not to be outdone by his teammate. Reyna is a slick ball-handler who picks his spots when he has the ball. Jaedin plays well off the ball screens as he slithers in the lane and makes plays for himself or the guys around him. Reyna is another young PG with high IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id="939057" first="Dalen" last="Davis"] (Whitney Young)

Davis is another highly-ranked guard in the 2023 class who continues make himself and the guys on his team look good. Dalen is strong lead guard who can beat you off the dribble multiple ways. Davis has an insane amount of poise with the ball in his hands. With a quick first step he blows by defenders easily and does a good job at finding shooters or bigs who are in the short corner. Elite playmaker who isn’t done improving.

[player_tooltip player_id="863583" first="Robbie" last="Avila"] (Oak Forrest)

The lone big man on this list Robbie is the point/center of his team. Similar to former IL high prospect (Cam Krutwig) Avila makes many plays from the high post position. Setting up his cutting teammates with strong bounce passes or hitting them on backdoor cuts. Robbie is always a weapon because if his guys don’t get open he can go and get a bucket himself.

[player_tooltip player_id="925222" first="Jeremiah" last="Jones"] (Marian Catholic)

The always active Jones made many plays this weekend. His knack to score is underrated due to the fact that’s he’s so good on defense. Jeremiah has a solid handle and suburb athleticism. It’s very hard to keep him in front of you. He finds ways with crossovers to penetrate defenses to score in tight spots. Jones is also smart enough to feed his teammates to spread the scoring duties around. Jeremiah maybe one of the best two way players in the state.
