As Michigan slowly returns to normalcy it has been refreshing to see the return of college elite camps. Allows scouts and coaches to view players in a different setting. The coaching staff at Lake Superior put together an a talented and deep field. With some tough cuts here are my five top prospects in regards to college potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="863921" first="Keegan" last="Wasilk"] 6-3 Clarkston The highest ranked player in the field and played like it. Occasionally at these type of events a prospect might coast feeling confident in his ranking or status. Not Wasilk. Competed hard all day especially in the drill portion . A true point guard with excellent size for the position. I was most impressed with his defensive intensity. Showed explosiveness by grabbing rebounds and going coast to coast on more than one occasion during the evening scrimmages. Seems like a lifetime ago but shared backcourt with Purdue bound Fletcher Loyer at one time. Wasilk was more than complementary piece with this elite prospect. It looks he is gearing up for a senior season to remind people why that backcourt once held so much promise.

[player_tooltip player_id="983494" first="Joe" last="Francis"] 6-4 Adrian (pictured at top of article) Francis has always had a strong reputation as shooter. In the camp setting was really able to show off his athleticism and length. Elevates well to make frequent plays at and above the rim. While still very skinny showed increased strength. When the position groups were separated he excelled in taking fellow guards into the post. Wasn’t just shooting over them as he used a wide base with his legs to keep from getting pushed around. Outside shot is still automatic despite its unconventional release point. If you put all of those factors together with a solid handle you have a true three level scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068135" first="Nick" last="Ellis"] 6-7 Grand Ledge I can’t write enough words to describe how far this young post has come in less than a year. When I first saw him I thought he was a ground bound project who could develop into post complement to 2023 standout [player_tooltip player_id="986889" first="Teddy" last="Williams"]. No shade towards Williams who was in attendance and played well. But Ellis has developed into a legitimate post prospect in his own right. I repeatedly saw the increased agility and mobility with DV45 this spring. Ellis went beyond even my expectations on Monday. Felt like he was dunking everything when split into post groupings. One handed, two handed and even left handed. Has always had a soft touch and corresponding footwork. Has a solid frame that looks like it can easily hold more weight. A real prospect on the rise.

[player_tooltip player_id="863993" first="Ethan" last="Crabtree"] 6-5 Coldwater Tall rangy two guard had an excellent day. Uses his size well as he elevates easily over smaller defenders on his jump shot. Finishes with authority in the open court and is not afraid of contact at the basket. Is a good ball handler and there are not many holes in his game. Plays with intensity and has a bit of a chip on his shoulder that I like. Got locked in pretty good individual battle with [player_tooltip player_id="983494" first="Joe" last="Francis"] late Monday that was fun to watch. Coldwater is a little off the beaten path. I believe Crabtree is running with an out of state AAU squad as well. College coaches will want to make the extra effort to catch this wing prospect this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1067860" first="Jalen" last="Overway"] 6-9 Holland Christian Coming off an excellent spring looks like he is going keep his momentum in the summer. Imposing physical presence who has greatly increased his lateral quickness and agility in the past year. In a camp drill setting was really able to show off this improvement. Uses wide frame to firmly establish position in the post. At the high school level if he catches it on the block it’s bucket or a foul. Just too big and too good. Has always had a soft touch around the basket and is an excellent passer. Comes from a family of college athletes so he knows it takes to get to the next level.
