I had the pleasure of attending the three day High School Team Camp at Gold Crown in Lakewood, CO. this past weekend. While there were many standout players here are my top guards of the camp.:

[player_tooltip player_id="759281" first="Brock" last="Mishak"] | 6’2" PG | SR. | Fossil Ridge High School

Mishak is flat out an exciting player to watch! He does it all for his team on the floor and is a fiery competitor. He is one of his teams leading scorers and can finish in the paint, from midrange or knock one down the three ball. He also jumps well and can rebound with some of the bigger players on the floor. He has good awareness of his teammates and has good court vision which allows him to make some really nice feeds to his team. He pushes the pace and really runs the floor well. Mishak has the ability to add some muscle to his frame as well and I definitely expect to see him playing at the next level. I look forward to not only watching this senior to be but also watching his team as they play a very fun and exciting brand of ball.

Marcus Hinh | 5’8" PG | SO. | Riverdale Ridge High School | Mustangs Select Basketball

Hinh is only heading into his sophomore season of high school ball but he is one to keep an eye on. He is very relaxed as the floor general for his team and does not get raddled by pressure and doesn’t turn the ball over, a coaches dream! He has a very nice drive and finish game whether it’s a floater, finishing at the basket, or pulling up for a midrange jumper. He is also a very good defender and causes a lot of problems for the opposing team on the defensive end of the floor. With a little muscle added to his frame as he gets older and the ability to hit the three ball more consistently this youngster has a very bright future. I look forward to following him and expect his game to be next level by the time his junior and senior years roll around. Remember the name as you heard it here first!

[player_tooltip player_id="1139553" first="Gavin" last="Hershberger"] | 5’9" PG | JR. | Rock Canyon High School

Hershberger is a very consistent and competitive point guard. He is aware of game situations and what his teams needs at a given point in the game. For example, in the championship game of the tournament, he started his team out with back to back three balls which allowed them to keep pace and not dig themselves an early hole. After that he starting dishing out assists to get other teammates going. That mental part of the game is something Hershberger really excels at and since that is usually something you see from players on the next level I’m very high on his future. Hershberger has a very nice shot from three, can control the point position for his team, plays hard nosed defense and like I said early, the mental part of his game separates him from most players on this level. I’m excited to see how his game develops over the next few years as he has a bright future and next level potential!

[player_tooltip player_id="918928" first="Andrew" last="Scott"] | 6’5" PG/SG | SR. | Silver Creek High School

Scott is a tall guard who can flat out score! Whether it’s from midrange or from way downtown Scott shoots the ball at a high percentage. He rebounds the ball and can dish out assists to his teammates as well. Scott is very under control and smooth on the floor and I really like his game. Considering his length and body frame to be able to add muscle without losing anything I could definitely see him playing at the next level. Scott is one to watch as his heads into his senior year!

[player_tooltip player_id="1178359" first="Domenic" last="Leone"] | 6’3" PG/SG | JR. | Fossil Ridge High School

Leone has a nice all round game! He is a lock down defender, can score from three, midrange or on the drive, he rebounds the ball well and has nice hops, and hustles constantly. I really appreciate a player who has the competitiveness and mindset that Leone has because it’s few and far between that you see that type of mindset. He leaves it all out on the floor and is a big key to his teams success and their ability to make it the the championship game this past weekend. At times he defers some of the scoring duties because he has a very talented point guard I mentioned earlier in this article, but I would like to see him score a little more because I believe he has the ability to do so. I’m excited to see how Leone’s game develops over the next two years and there is no reason he can’t play at the next level. Excited to see this youngster develop!

[player_tooltip player_id="1050953" first="Elliott" last="Cravitz"] | 6’1" PG/SG | SR. | Colorado Academy

Cravitz is definitely a key to his teams success and one they look for to handle the scoring load. Cravitz welcomes that role and is very adept at scoring. He can finish at the rim, in traffic, from midrange and knock down the three ball. He calms his team down when needed and also gets his other teammates involved. Heading into his senior year I expect to see Cravitz and his team make a deep playoff run and give himself a chance to receive some offers from schools at the next level. Keep an eye out for Cravitz and Colorado Academy!

Grayden Harkness | 6’0" SG | JR. | Holy Family High School

Harkness’s game is not the most flashy but he always seems to make things happen for himself and his team. Whether it’s a much needed bucket, or a steal, a rebound or a defensive stop Harkness always seems to come up with the right play at the right time. He has a great motor and is always going all out. He can finish at the bucket or from the outside and considering he still has half his high school career left I expect his game to continue to grow because you know he is going to put in the work. Keep an eye out for Harkness as he is one to watch!
