But there are several other Wichita juniors hitting the hardwood this summer who are ready to leave their marks. Here are some of the top guards returning to the Wichita area (in alphabetical order):
Skyler Clevenger Skyler Clevenger 6'1" | SG Andover Central | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-1 guard, Midwest Magic Elite – Hernandez, Andover Central HS:
Clevenger is a solidly built and tall guard who can do a lot of things, although the perimeter shot is his bread and butter. He can put the ball on the floor and drive, often getting by a defender to then kick it to a shooter. He feeds the post and plays solid defense.
Isaiah Hernandez Isaiah Hernandez 5'10" | CG Buhler | 2022 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, Midwest Magic Elite – Hernandez, Buhler HS:
Hernandez is the consummate point guard, getting things organized and running, and getting the ball to the right place at the right time. He is a hustling defender and pushes the ball to help his athletic teammates have opportunities.
Joby Love, 6-foot-1 guard, Kansas Players, Maize South HS:
A defensive specialist, Love is gritty and tough. He has the size and quickness to overwhelm most guards, and the attitude that he wants to frustrate opponents, and shut them down, He’s a quick ball handler and can slither through the lane to get open shots or create openings for teammates.
Nick Reyes, 6-foot-1 forward, Midwest Magic Elite – Resa, Maize:
Often getting in the post or at the free throw line to make plays, Reyes is sort of a tweener. He has good pivot moves and posts up well. He’s a good ball handler who can make nice dribble drives from the wing. He runs the floor and rebounds well for a guard.
Collin Rucker, 5-foot-11 guard, Perry Ellis 34, Trinity Academy:
Rucker is a shooter. He finds openings on the perimeter and strokes it. He’s also a solid ball handler who knows when to pull the trigger, and when to facilitate offense off entry passes and perimeter ball movement. He never stops working and defends with quick hands and effort.
