The Skyland Conference has been one of the top conferences in the Garden State over the past couple of seasons. It is filled with big-time players, but it also has under the radar prospects who are ready to take advantage of the opportunity. Here are the Skyland Conference Prospects who will take the leap up in 2021-22.

[player_tooltip player_id="1050405" first="Dean" last="Smith"], 6’1 CG Watchung Hills 2024

The Warriors have been one of the top teams in the conference over the last three seasons, but they need someone to replace [player_tooltip player_id="929528" first="Trevor" last="Bokach"]’s production. Smith looks to be the guy as he attacks the basket strong, draws contact and can knock down jumpers from distance. The 6’1 guard has a nice handle and makes plays with the ball in his hands. Smith is always talking on the defensive end and rarely takes a play off. [player_tooltip player_id="1039493" first="Elijah" last="Lewis"] was a breakout player for Watchung Hills last season and Smith looks to be that guy this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="902744" first="Cameron" last="Piggee"], 6’0 PG Rutgers Prep 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="901961" first="Ryan" last="Petit"] and [player_tooltip player_id="901974" first="Donovan" last="Long"] will be the top options for the Argonauts, while Piggee will get a bigger role in the offense. The 6’0 guard has a good handle and is unafraid of drawing contact on his way to the rim. Piggee is more than just a slasher as he can also knock down jumpers from behind the arc. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and knows how to get deflections. Piggee is a talented lead guard who is ready to burst onto the scene for Rutgers Prep.

[player_tooltip player_id="1150545" first="Nick" last="Losada"], SG Gill St. Bernard’s 2023

Losada provided the Knights with a needed jolt of energy down the stretch and is looking to extend it into his junior campaign. He has a nice shooting form and has deep range. Losada can also take his defender off the dribble and finish around the basket. He is a good rebounder and an underrated defender. Losada’s shooting ability is something that will be key for him as he gets more comfortable within Gill St. Bernard’s offense.

Davis Adams, 6’3 SF Immaculata 2023

Adams had a solid sophomore campaign, but has the opportunity to truly breakout in 2021-22. The 6’3 forward is tough to keep off the glass as he had three games last season with at least 10 rebounds. Adams also has a nice touch around the basket and is working on his range. He finished second on the team in blocks, showing his ability to make plays on the defensive end. Adams is on the verge of a breakout season as he looks to get more touches on the offensive end for Immaculata.

[player_tooltip player_id="1153960" first="Jared" last="Wooden"], 5’10 PG Bound Brook 2024

The Crusaders were the only team in the Skyland Conference to finish 2021 undefeated and they have a chance for a big 2022 season with Wooden getting more opportunities. The 5’10 guard has a nice release on his jumper and ended the season hot with four straight games of two made triples. Wooden is more than just a shooter as he can also handle the ball and get to the basket. He plays with quick hands on the defensive end and is an underrated passer. Wooden’s game will grow tremendously as he gets the chance to share the backcourt with [player_tooltip player_id="901978" first="Quadir" last="Harrell"] for Bound Brook next season.
