The 2021 edition of the Rolling Hills Prep State Preview Classic was a scaled down version of the event that is a must-see for Southern California basketball fans. Colony high school hosted the four game, one-day event which featured many of SoCal’s top programs and top players. Below is a breakdown of the sophomore and freshman class standouts from the showcase.

Liam Campbell, 2024, Harvard-Westlake - Campbell was the (pleasant) surprise of the event for me. The 6-foot-4 freshman came off the bench and turned in productive minutes for the Wolverines. Campbell is a high IQ, steady and versatile player whose impact goes well-beyond his years. The 2024 prospect finished with 14 points in his reserve role and had scouts and media in attendance intrigued about his long-term potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="992481" first="Brady" last="Dunlap"], 2023, Harvard-Westlake - Dunlap had a stellar freshman season at Hart of Newhall before making the move to Studio City for his sophomore season. It’s nice to see Dunlap take a step up in regards to level of play and competition with an Open Division program and it’s only helping his development. Dunlap has great size and shooting ability at 6-feet-7 and can hit shots consistently off the catch and off the bounce from the three-point and mid-range levels. Dunlap finished with 12 points in the win for Harvard-Westlake.

[player_tooltip player_id="996387" first="Denzel" last="Hines"], 2023, Colony - Hines is another sophomore who has taken a big jump when it comes to his development and on-court production/impact. The 6-foot-6 power forward logged a double-double in Colony’s win over Chaminade, scoring 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Six of Hines’ 11 boards came in the first quarter of play. Hines is a physical interior presence with improving hands and footwork.

[player_tooltip player_id="1188984" first="Robert" last="Hinton"], 2024, Harvard-Westlake - The younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id="680247" first="Adam" last="Hinton"], who was mentioned in our senior standout report from this event, Robert has the physical tools and basketball feel to be a prospect to keep an eye on over the next three years. The younger Hinton has great size and strength for his age at 6-feet-4 and showed plenty of pop in his legs when finishing in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id="994948" first="Kenny" last="Manzi"], 2023, Rolling Hills Prep - Manzi jumped out to a torrid start in RHP’s win over Loyola, scoring eight of his 10 points in the first eight minutes of play. The 6-foot-8 forward has soft hands and great touch around the basket. He can play with his back to the rim or in a face-up and go type of situation due to his fluidity, footwork and ability to extend to the basket a finish. Manzi added eight rebounds to his 10-point effort.
