We were at the Prep Hoops Havoc in the Heartland event in Indianapolis May 15-16. It was a great event full of talent from across the state line in Illinois. Here is a look at some of the prospects that caught our eye in Havoc in the Heartland: Top Illinois 2022 Standouts Part 2!

[player_tooltip player_id="1048712" first="Tavari" last="Johnson"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Quick twitched point guard that has an excellent feel for the game. Elite ball screen player that threw dimes in the pick/roll on the regular. Also a really good pull up mid-range threat. Speed in the open floor always having his head up to make a play. He is without question a mid-major floor general at this stage that is going to rack up the offers in June/July.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106926" first="Justin" last="Mullins"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Mullins continues to see his recruitment rise with each and every event he plays in. Two way wing that defends at a high level on the perimeter. Offensively the two aspects that he did best in Indy were scoring in transition as he was a regular at the rim with dunks along with his passing in the half court with quick dimes in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="925184" first="Damari" last="Wheeler-Thomas"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Wheeler-Thomas is one of the more under appreciated lead guards in the Illinois 2022 class. He is a plus shooter that loves to drain them coming off ball screens or spotting up. Manipulates ball screens so well getting what he wants out of them. Drive and kick threat off the bounce. Low-majors should be all over him!

[player_tooltip player_id="863594" first="Xavier" last="Lewis"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Really nice weekend for Lewis. The TF South 2022 power forward played with a high energy level on both ends of the floor. Was excellent as a dive threat for dunks. Runs the floor very well. Rebounded at a nice clip on both ends of the floor. Shot blocking presence including altering perimeter jumpers on a number of his opponents attempts. Mid-major and low-majors should be involved here.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106946" first="Will" last="Grudzinski"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Barrington small forward is a big time shooting threat. Plus spot up options that drains them at a high clip with a quick release. Tracking as a D2 specialist at this stage.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210373" first="Joseph" last="Fitch"] (Illini Magic)

Fitch is a home schooled 6’8” power forward that had a breakout performance on Saturday. Great frame, length, and athleticism up front. On the defensive end he is a major shot blocking presence with switchability out on the perimeter. High level rebounder that snatched them in traffic going after them with two hands. Runs the floor with ease. Had a couple of quick and aggressive post moves for scores. D2s need to monitor this prospect!

[player_tooltip player_id="1210396" first="Matthew" last="Langit"] (Next Generation)

Langit had a notable weekend putting his name on the map with a strong performance. In back to back games he absolutely lived in the lane. Scored on scoop shots, layups, and-1s. Won off the bounce with a quick first step. Can hit a three on occasion. The Bolingbrook guard is one to watch as a small college scoring point guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210410" first="Hunter" last="Racic"] (Next Generation)

This 6’6” power forward from Bolingbrook is a wide bodied post that was a solid area rebounder who outworked his opponents on the glass for second chance points.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210390" first="Johnny" last="McGowan"] (Chicago Lockdown)

McGowan is primarily a spot up shooting threat. The Oak Lawn shooting guard has decent size at 6’3” and should be able to find a home at the small college level with his sharp shooting ability.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048721" first="Elijah" last="Jointer"] (Chicago Lockdown)

Strong bodied 6’6” power forward that is crafty finishing below the rim in the paint. Quick post moves and makes it tough for opponents on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210437" first="Sergio" last="Rivera"] (Chicago Lockdown)

St. Patrick 6’0” lefty point guard that was active on the defensive end including one play where he swiped the ball and went end to end. Also hit one three in the game we saw. Small college player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106942" first="Owen" last="Schneider"] (Chicago Lockdown)

Really liked the passing feel and instincts that we saw out of Schneider. Got others involved running the show. The Prospect 5’10” lead guard is a pass first player that mixes in acrobatic layups at times.

[player_tooltip player_id="996076" first="Donavyn" last="Sayles"] (Chicago Lockdown)

This Rockford Lutheran 6’5” small forward is a broad shouldered and well-built wing that can overpower weaker wings with his raw strength including one play where he put a defender in a spin cycle in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1198899" first="Sebastian" last="Blachut"] (Chicago Lockdown)

Blachut is a 6’2” Lake Park point guard that has a nice feel for the game along with decent size. Made a couple spinning layups along with getting his teammates involved. Good D3 guard.
