GRMC Top 16U Ball Handlers

<p>To play the type of high-octane, up-tempo style that predominated the 16U division of the Grind Region Memorial Classic, you have to have some guys who are lights out handling the ball.</p> <p>Here are some of the top ball handlers in the GRMC 16U ranks (in alphabetical order):</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048316" first="Adam" last="Beasley"]</strong>, 6-foot-2 guard, TC Elite, Bloomington HS (pictured):</p> <p>Beasley can make everyone else look like they’re in slow motion. He slows down to set up defenders before blowing by them with his beautiful crossover. He spins, stutter steps and jukes opposing guards, and blows around bigs to wreck defenses. He can score in the lane, but he’s really good at getting the ball to teammates for open looks.</p> <p><strong>Kellen Rhimes</strong>, 5-foot-8 guard, Gateway Knights, Kirkwood HS:</p> <p>Lights-out quickness and a brilliant handle lets Rhimes get anywhere he wants on the court. He pushes the tempo and dives to the basket at top speed. He’s got a lot of nice moves, but because he can do them at top speed, he leaves everyone behind.</p> <p><strong>James Lee</strong>, 5-foot-10 guard, MPJ Elite, Battle HS:</p> <p>Lee was one of the most impressive ball handlers on the weekend. He’s got all the start-and-stop and stutter step moves, a brilliant spin and nice crossover. Put it all together and you’ve got a guy who’s almost impossible to keep from the goal. Lee is strong and tough enough to dribble through contact.</p> <p><strong>Jackson Muse</strong>, 6-foot guard, Midwest All-Stars, Belleville East:</p> <p>Muse is almost unstoppable when he’s on the move toward the goal. He’s powerful through contact and makes tough finishes once he’s there. He’s got good length, which he uses to cross over defenders and protect the ball.</p> <p><strong>Collin Vick</strong>, 6-foot-1 guard, MN Rise, Owatonna HS:</p> <p>Vick isn’t flashy with the ball, but what he does on the attack is truly impressive. He gets deep on the drive, often getting his own shot. He’s got power and athleticism to finish in traffic, and the size to go over small defenders. He’s an active rebounder, so he often has the ball in his hands to go end to end. He is a brilliant creator on the break, weaving around and blowing by defenders to set up opportunities at high speed at the offensive end.</p> <p>Honorable Mention 2024s who played up in 16U:</p> <p><strong>Devon Bolton</strong>, 6-foot guard, United Basketball, Shawnee Mission West:</p> <p><strong>Jalen Grace</strong>, 5-foot-11 guard, KC Spurs Black, Olathe East HS:</p> <p><strong>Devin Kemp</strong>, 5-foot-8 guard, DC Kings, Nixa HS:</p>
