Battle at the Lakes: Scotty B’s 2022 Illinois Standouts Part 3

<p>This past weekend we covered Battle at the Lakes in Minnesota featuring top talent in Illinois and around the country.  Here is our look at the top performers from the rising senior class in <strong>Battle at the Lakes: Scotty B’s 2022 Illinois Standouts Part 3</strong>!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996062" first="Zach" last="Cleveland"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Cleveland did most of his damage inside when we saw him with Hoopstars over the weekend.  The Normal Community face up four was effective finishing dump offs, getting put backs, and using a nice combination of footwork and toughness for scores.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="771525" first="Donovan" last="Jones"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Compact built point guard from Solorio that can shoot the rock.  Range on his jumper out to beyond the arc where he knocked in several this weekend.  Solid passer, but is more of a score first guard.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="925222" first="Jeremiah" last="Jones"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Long and rangy two guard that presents two way potential.  Three and D wing with his ability to hit open shots and get after it on the defensive end guarding multiple spots.  Mixed in a couple drives as well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="765217" first="KJ" last="Debrick"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Debrick continues to be a force for the Hoopstars.  The five man has excellent size with his offensive tackle like build.  On the defensive end he is a shot blocking presence and overall a tough post defender as he walls up around the hoop.  Offensively he is incredibly efficient with his touches gaining deep post position and making quick moves.  Good footwork and touch at the cup.  Mid-major prospect after a year in prep this upcoming season.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="771544" first="Christian" last="Meeks"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Meeks is a junk yard dog four that plays with such a high-motor.  You know every time this Homewood Flossmoor forward hits the floor he is going to be productive.  Relentless running the floor in transition for scores.  Put it on the deck a few times for slashes and his three point shot is really starting to round into shape as he hit several.  High level rebounder that goes after them with force and he can defend all over the floor with tenacity!  Low-majors will love this player!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="925226" first="Martell" last="Webb"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Webb is a wide bodied five man from Westinghouse that eats up space inside.  Rebounds well in his area and on the offensive end shows touch and decent footwork.  Got to the line quite a bit in Minnesota.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="863613" first="AJ" last="Redd"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Redd is a thinly built two guard from St. Ignatius who has multi level scoring ability.  He is probably at his best slithering through the defense for finishes in the paint that he was often fouled on over the weekend.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996074" first="DJ" last="Starr"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Normal U-High point guard is a natural bucket getter!  He was absolutely lethal in the game we saw from three draining them spotting up or off the bounce.  Shoots it with a ton of confidence.  Can play on the ball at the point or slide over and play some two when needed.  Worth consideration at the D2 level and is among the better guards in central Illinois.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048716" first="Famious" last="French"] (Illinois Hoopstars)</strong></p> <p>Like the potential quite a bit here.  Long and athletic 6’6” small forward that uses both in the paint getting on the offensive glass and high pointing rebounds.  Also excels in transition as a wing finisher.</p>
