On Saturday I spent all day at Wayzata High School watching some of the best teams the Prep Hoops Circuit had to offer. Here were the best players in the gym from today.

Niklas Polonowski Breakaway 2023

Niklas is solid shooter who has really good feel for the game. He moves the ball in the half court. Had two strong baseline drives for finishes. Polonowski detoured a few shots with his length on defense. Niklas has a nice motor and plays within the team structure

Max Shikenjanksi MN Fury 2023

Max is an energizer bunny on the court. Constantly moving and getting to open spots. A straight line driver with the ball he is always looking to collapse and kick. Max made sweet moves in transition scoring while guys were back pedaling.

[player_tooltip player_id="1152903" first="Amar" last="Augillard"] Young & Reckless 2021

Amar went to work in the first half attacking the bodies of D1 Minnesota defenders often finishing with and-1s. In the second half he extended to the perimeter hitting a couple of threes to show a different look. He finished the game with 28 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="863598" first="Bobby" last="Durkin"] Breakaway 2022

Durkin lit up the nets in the first game of the day for Breakaway. He hit 5 threes in the first half and as D1 Minnesota made the adjustments Bobby drove to the rim and scored in traffic. He finished with 19 points.

Elvis Nnaji D1 Minnesota 2022

Nnaji had some key momentum changing dunks in the morning session. He has impeccable timing on reading missed shots. His best dunk was a face to face slam over MN Selects 6’9 big man. Elvis has the ability to shoot as well making two three pointers from the wing. He finished the game with 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106926" first="Justin" last="Mullins"] Y&R/KL Power 5 2022

A slow start for this Y&R team but Mullins did a lot of the grunt work to keep them going. A couple put backs and drives from the wings to get some momentum going. In the second half he made two 3s and continued to hit the boards hard finishing up with 24 points in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id="765217" first="KJ" last="Debrick"] Illinois Hoopstars 2022

The 6’8 big man was too much of a load for Pro Skills Basketball. KJ is rising prospect who gets better and better each time I see him. In the game today he did his work early getting deep post touches and converting with drop steps and hook shots. Debrick keeps guys on his back by opening up wide and there is nothing guys can do once he touches the ball. Besides scoring in the post he grabbed several rebounds and made great outlet passes that led to fast breaks. He finished the game with 24 points and 8 boards.
