There were 3 hours of action on opening night and here were some of the standouts I viewed:
Noah Amenhauser Noah Amenhauser 7'0" | C Estrella Foothills | 2023 State #270 Nation AZ Estrella Foothills (AZ Factory 16)
-The big fella had his way from inside and out. He dominated inside on D with rebounds and sending shots away for blocks. He works well in the high post and will either rip through, shoot it comfortably or make a nice pass in traffic. His fluidity and athleticism keep improving. Not many post men better on the West Coast from his class.
Isaiah Bronson Isaiah Bronson 6'2" | PG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ Williams Field (AZ Factory 16)
-A quick ball handler who is a natural scorer. He also is a better passer then I realized as he can thread the needle for a dime on the norm. He uses his speed and quicks to be a pest on the ball and plays a cerebral game. He can shoot it off the pull or catch from mid to the 3.
Torin Bosch Torin Bosch 6'4" | SF Basha | 2023 State AZ Basha (Team RHJ 16)
-A high motored forward does all the dirty work for the team. He rebounds out of area and crashes the glass. He rips through well and can go to work inside. He also showed a nice touch from the 3pt line as he seems to be extending hs shooting range as he ages.
Jaelen Green Jaelen Green 6'2" | SF Gilbert | 2024 State AZ Gilbert (UH Elite 15) (Pictured below)
-A long freshman may of been on the losing end of his game he played but showed he can compete. He ues his length and quickness to defend multiple positions and blocked shots, rebounded in traffic and had multiple steals. He scores it in the lane around defenders and has that active game on both ends of the court.
Luke Kearney Luke Kearney 6'7" | SF Bella Vista Prep | 2022 State AZ SDO (Firestorm Gold 17)
-One of the top scorers of the night with 28 points vs a good Colorado team. He is shooting the ball at a high clip the last few weekends and has continued ripping the nets on the first night with 5-6 3’s made. He can dribble passed defenders and get to the cup but when he is in his zone, he is hard to stop. That stroke looks pure.
Luke Light Luke Light 6'6" | PF Paradise Honors | 2022 State AZ Paradise Honors (Westside Elite 17)
-A new team from the West Side had a day-one standout in Light. He shot the ball well and competed hard for rebounds and on defense defending in the paint. I was impressed with his fluidity handling the ball after he took it off the glass and went coast to coast for a contested shot.
