He plays his AAU ball in the spring/summer with Pentagon Schoolers 17U National Team. He was one of my favorite players in ND to watch this past high school season. Brandt is a do-it-all guard that is a student of the game. Trey is an absolute gym rat that loves hoops. He has all the skills and he is physically talented. In my opinion, he is underrated as an athlete because his skills are so refined. Trey rises to the occasion and loves taking big shots when they matter most. He is a gamer! I expect him to play in the NSIC or in the Summit League after his senior season. As the AAU season rolls on we will get a better feeling of how his recruiting is going. The Beulah Miners will be a preseason Top-10 team in Class B ND in the fall. Trey will absolutely be up for Mr. Basketball at the end of next season. However, Trey will have his sights set on another Region-7 Championship and a trip to the coveted Class B State Tournament. If you have not had the chance to watch Trey in school ball or AAU, I would recommend you make it a priority. Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND is a special basketball player!

Full Interview:
PGD: When did you start playing varsity minutes at Beulah?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : I started seeing minutes my 8th grade year.
PHD: I know last season did not end the way you wanted. Can you make a few comments about last year?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : It was an up-and-down year. We started the season off slow with a couple of losses to some good teams. I think that helped us down the stretch winning some big games in overtime, obviously, we fell short in the most important game. But we came prepared and we never backed down. Overall our season was productive even though we didn’t end up where we wanted to be.
PHD: You play AAU with the Pentagon Schoolers, how has the spring season been going?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : It’s been good. We’ve played some good competition and that’s what we need to get ready for this summer.
PHD: How did you decide on an AAU team?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : I was looking for a new team 2 years ago and a friend of mine recommended me to the schoolers and they sent me an invitation to play with them. It worked out pretty good with them needing a point guard and me filling that spot.
PHD: What will be your role on the Beulah Miner team next season?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : These past few years I’ve had to take my leadership to the next level and I feel like I’ve done that pretty good. With that exception, I would say I’m also a playmaker trying to get the ball to the open player.
PHD: What are your individual goals with basketball long-term?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : I plan on playing college basketball at the college that fits me best. Obviously, after college, if I could play at a higher level, I would take that opportunity and that would be my end goal.
PHD: Do you have any family/relatives that played college sports of any kind?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : My dad played basketball in college at Minot State University.
PHD: How has the basketball recruiting process been going for you so far?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : It is all good so far. It is cool to see the teams that i have watched since a little kid talk to me about basketball. It motivates me to get better that I know I have a chance to play at the next level. I’ve talked to a handful of NSIC and NAIA schools and a couple Summit League teams.
PHD: What is your best memory so far in high school basketball?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : Making it to state my freshman year is something I’ll never forget. I was struggling with my shot weeks before the tournament and had put so much work in that when the time came I was confident in my abilities and played the three best games of my season.
PHD: What is the highlight of the AAU season this spring?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : Beating the Minnesota Heat for sure. We had been struggling all weekend in Omaha and our last game on Sunday we played them and beat them by 10.
PHD: What would you say your strengths are as a player?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : Being able to handle the ball while being pressured is one for sure. I feel I can score in all ways whether I’m coming off a screen with or without the ball. I have been working on my jump shot and catch and shooting all year and i feel it has become one of my strengths because I can get good elevation.
PHD: What are your Beulah Miner team goals for next year?
Trey Brandt Trey Brandt 6'1" | PG Beulah | 2022 State ND : Being regular-season region champs is at the front of our minds always. We want to get back to the region championship and win it so we can be in a position for a state championship. That is our goal every year.
