Ball Dawgs National A.S Game: Local Standouts

<p>The 2nd Annual Balldawgs A.S Game took place Sunday, May 2nd at Democracy Prep in Las Vegas, NV. The game was part of series of events showcasing the class of 2021. In addition to the Local Game, the event featured a 3 point shootout, a dunk contest, and a National A.S game. The game featured several players with ties to Las Vegas, in this article we take a look at some local standouts from the event. </p> <p><strong>Keshon Gilbert</strong> <em>6’3 PG Vashon|Durango</em> - Looks like the Rebels have their point guard of the future. Gilbert was even better than I remember. The playground handles were there, but he looked different. So different in fact that I originally mistook him for his 6’5 Brother Kendrick. In the game, he scored, created, and even showed up with the occasional monster block on the way to being named CO-MVP of the game. </p> <p><strong>Anthony Swift</strong> <em>6’6 PF Desert Pines</em> - The Swift, Armbrester matchup will go down as one of legend, as two super competitors battled it out. What I know about Swift is, he doesn’t back down from anybody. He didn’t on this night either rebounding and finishing with ferocity. Swift a top 150 player the last few years will be continuing his career at Southern Utah University. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="806816" first="Frankie" last="Collins"] 6’2 PG Coronado - I gained a whole new respect for Collins on Sunday. Dude was absolutely unstoppable in P&amp;R action. He’s cat-quick, making it nearly impossible for anyone to trap or hedge him after using the ball screen. Once by the secondary defender, Collins would put it into overdrive, using his athleticism to finish at the rim, or his Point Guard skills to create an easy bucket for a teammate. His arrival in Ann Arbor is going to be major. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="930932" first="Arthur" last="Kaluma"] 6’7 PF Dream City Christian - The former UNLV commit gave a glimpse of what the Rebels will be missing next season. He played with a combination of speed and power, which in an All-Star setting was unstoppable. His ability to catch and finish was on full display, and can only be described as elite. According to AAU coach Sean Stevens, Arizona, Syracuse, Creighton, and Washington are the new leaders for his service. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="799296" first="Glenn" last="Taylor"] 6’5 SF Arizona Compass Prep - Taylor was his usual Swiss Army Knife self. He was able to score off the bounce, make plays for his teammates, and defend multiple positions.
