We have made it to the final game of the high school basketball season this weekend. The State Championship is here as Silver Creek and Leo matchup for the 3A crown. Here is a breakdown of the matchup.

The Teams: Silver Creek, Leo

When: Saturday, 5 pm ET

Prediction: Silver Creek

Player To Watch: [player_tooltip player_id="529572" first="Trey" last="Kaufman"] (Silver Creek; 2021)

Silver Creek comes in with a huge advantage and is the heavy favorite to ’repeat’ as state champions. They won the state title two years ago and have arguably the top three players on the floor. On the other end of the floor, Leo comes in to its first state championship appearance in school history. Both teams have had 'luck' on their side throughout the state tournament. Leo has had a six-point overtime win against Bishop Luers, a one-point win over Northwood and then a two-point win against South Bend St. Joseph en route to the title game. Silver Creek had a three-point win over North Harrison, four-point win over Heritage Hills and then a one-point win over Connersville. [player_tooltip player_id="529572" first="Trey" last="Kaufman"], [player_tooltip player_id="569321" first="Kooper" last="Jacobi"] and [player_tooltip player_id="769684" first="Branden" last="Northern"] headline the players to watch, all for Silver Creek. However, Leo has a trio in its own right with [player_tooltip player_id="874150" first="Blake" last="Davison"], [player_tooltip player_id="870240" first="D.J." last="Allen"] and Zach Troyer. Both teams have made big plays to close games out come playoff time and if it were to come down to the wire on Saturday, it would be because of [player_tooltip player_id="874150" first="Blake" last="Davison"]. If he can make enough shots to offset the expected production of Kaufman and Jacobi, Leo will have a shot. That front court duo of Silver Creek is nearly unstoppable, however, combining for 46 points and 23 rebounds per game. I think Silver Creek comes away with this one and wins another State Championship.
