Prep Hoops Live was one of the biggest events in the country this spring. It featured tons of talent from Illinois and around the nation. Here we dive into the Illinois rising senior prospects that impressed in Prep Hoops Live: Top Illinois 2022 Performers Pt 2!

[player_tooltip player_id="821789" first="AJ" last="Storr"] (Illinois Hoopstars Gill)

Storr is an Illinois commit that just shows out every single time he hits the floor on the Prep Hoops Circuit. The former Kankakee product who is now playing out in Arizona at AZ Compass Prep shot it at a higher clip than he did a week ago in Chicago. Strong bodied wing that is so tough when he gets his shoulders turned going downhill for scores in the paint. Crisp ball handler and is a legit three level scorer! Illinois got a good one! Plus rebounder for his position.

[player_tooltip player_id="863622" first="JayQuan" last="Adams"] (Illinois Hoopstars Gill)

Best we have seen Adams play in a while. The Simeon wing saw limited minutes during the high school season, but he has potential at the college level as a three and D weapon. Knocked in several threes along with defending both wing spots well during the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048712" first="Tavari" last="Johnson"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Johnson is one of the top point guards in the state of Illinois in the 2022 class. He is a smaller guard, but is so dynamic with the rock in his hands. His ability to manipulate ball screens was on full display again over the weekend slicing up defenses repeatedly. You combine that with his plus plus pull up game that he knocks down from mid-range and three and you have a no doubt low-major lead guard that mid-majors should also be considering. Kid is a flat-out difference maker.

[player_tooltip player_id="925184" first="Damari" last="Wheeler-Thomas"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Wheeler-Thomas who is from Larkin is one of the more slept on lead guards in the class. Crisp ball handler that creates off the dribble with a burst in tight spaces. Baseline jumper was straight money all weekend. Continues to establish himself among the best guards in the 2022 class in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106926" first="Justin" last="Mullins"] (Y&R/KL Power 5)

Mullins has made quite an emergence on the scene over the last 8 months. Versatile wing that can defend multiple positions effectively. Offensively he is an explosive finisher with bounce that shows a clean looking jump shot. One that low-majors need to be monitoring heavily!

[player_tooltip player_id="925209" first="Sebastian" last="Miller"] (Chicago Lockdown)

Miller is a crafty lead guard that has a compact build. Good feel for the game as a distributor and is shifty off the bounce with the ball in his hands. Can take a bump at the hoop and finish. Solid on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106942" first="Owen" last="Schneider"] (Chicago Lockdown)

The Prospect High School point guard brought toughness to the lead guard spot along with shot making from the perimeter knocking down an array of threes. Small college player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210403" first="Luke" last="Defrance"] (Illinois Hoopstars Rowell)

The Metamora High School point guard scorched the nets with his perimeter shot making. Hit four triples in the game we saw for 17 points. Nice small college shooting option.

Idius Roberson (Illinois Hoopstars Rowell)

Big bodied 6’8” five man from Peoria High that has broad shoulders. Liked his touch and feel scoring around the hoop with both finesse and power. Good area rebounder and was a solid post defender around the basket.

Deshawn Wells (Illinois Hoopstars Rowell)

Another Peoria High product. Wells is a power forward that at 6’7” has a nice combination of strength and athleticism. Was a bit wild at times with his shooting, but shined on the offensive glass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210441" first="Macarthur" last="Briggs"] (Illinois Hoopstars Rowell)

Good sized wing at 6’5” from Delavan. Sound shooter who knocked in three threes along with a crisp baseline jumper in the game we saw. Quick release on his shot. Made a name for himself in Kansas City with his play.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106930" first="Marquel" last="Saleek"] (Illinois Hoopstars Taylor)

Saleek is a combo guard from Willowbrook that continues to see his stock rise this spring. Athletic guard that has a lethal pull up game from both mid-range and three. Gets to the free throw line at a nice clip and finishes well at the cup. Stock definitely going in the right direction!
