Players to Watch this Spring: 2022 Guards

A look at who could really raise their stock this offseason.

6-5 SG [player_tooltip player_id="870204" first="Keith" last="Robbins"] – St. Francis – Team Dickerson

With multiple D-I offers already in tow, [player_tooltip player_id="870204" first="Keith" last="Robbins"] is off to a hot start to his travel season. He’s a big guard with a smooth release. Robbins is a threat from the three-point line but also has a very strong body and above average athleticism that allows him to finish through traffic and play above the rim.

6-3 G [player_tooltip player_id="870163" first="Domonik" last="Henderson"] – Monroe – GA Canes

[player_tooltip player_id="870163" first="Domonik" last="Henderson"] earned All-State Honors by averaging 20.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2 steals and 2.8 blocks per game. He’s a strong athlete that can slash to the hoop. Henderson is a foul magnet when getting downhill. What separates Henderson from other guards is his aggressive defense. He has lightning quick hands and is a great shot blocker. His on-ball defense gives him interesting upside.

6-3 G [player_tooltip player_id="1050039" first="Gaddis" last="Heath"] – Westlake – D-Favors Celtics

A breakout season netted [player_tooltip player_id="1050039" first="Gaddis" last="Heath"] Region 4-6A Player of the Year after pouring in 20 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks per game. Heath played with a newfound level of confidence and aggressiveness as he scored at multiple levels and impacted games on both ends of the floor.

6-2 CG Julius King Jr. – First Presbyterian Day – Atlanta Xpress

A move from Warner Robins to FPD helped put Jay King in the spotlight as he ignited a 22-win team that fell in the Elite Eight. King pumped in 18.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He’s a potent scorer from the perimeter that creates his own shot and scores from deep. King makes tough shots look easy. Now playing with the Atlanta Xpress, expect the rest of the state to jump on the King bandwagon.

5-11 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1133904" first="Malachi" last="Dooley"] – Habersham Central – BCB

Sometimes hidden in North Georgia, teams that have played Habersham Central over the years certainly know the name Mali Dooley by now. Dooley was the heart and soul for the Raiders as he led Habersham Central into battle every night against arguably the best region in Class 6A. Dooley dropped in 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He’s a shifty quick guard that can finish in a crowd at the rim. His playmaking and scoring will be on display with BCB.
