The SSA program was showcased throughout the age groups, and the 17 you teams really put together a strong overall showing. Team PAC made some noise with some big time stat lines from players, Buddy Buckets features Kansas talent, and United fielded some competitive teams. Let’s look at some of the stand outs from the Kansas area from the weekend.
Brady Klotz Brady Klotz 6'4" | SF Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , 6’5 Forward, Royal Valley, SSA 2022 Black (Pictured): One of the best looking forwards in the roll/pop game out of pick and roll throughout the entire weekend, with a strong frame and great hands, he feasted on rolls getting a head of steam, catching and finishing through contact against high level wings and bigs. He used his smooth and effective jumper from 3 and the midrange as a compliment rather than his primary form of offense this weekend which elevates his game to another level. He averaged10 points, 5 rebounds, and about a block and steal per game on the weekend.
Fred Criqui Fred Criqui 6'7" | C St. Marys | 2022 State KS , 6’7 Forward, St Marys, SSA 2022 Black: Criqui’s started to get his role with the immensely talented group he is on with SSA as the weekend progressed, playing better and better in each game. The defensive middle man and rim protection duties were handled by him well and he made life difficult scoring in the paint for the group of talented bigs in the Premier Circuit pool. He had moments and flashes of the potential offensive talent there with great seals up the lane for finishes and soft roll pick and roll jump shots.
Will Townsend Will Townsend 6'8" | PF Shawnee Mission East | 2021 State KS , 6’8 Forward, PAC Basketball: The recent Pensacola commit was big time for PAC Basketball on the weekend, putting up some high level numbers in the process. The big man was dominant on the boards and was highly efficient and active inside scoring the ball. His big breakout game on the weekend came with a 27 point, 16 rebound performance in a win for the club. Highly skilled, very physical, and versatile player who is going to bring a lot to the table down in Florida.
Daryll McCrary, 6’5 Forward, Olathe East, United: A very active and energetic player that creates extra possessions and scoring opportunities for himself. He was all over the floor on both ends, rebounding at a high level, scoring on dump passes and offensive rebounds, and overall was just an active presence for his team.
Corbin Dozier Corbin Dozier 6'5" | PF Olathe South | 2022 State KS , 6’5 Forward, Olathe South, United: The long forward does a great job of being a floor spacer with his ability to shoot the long ball off the catch and has good range. He is crafty as a cutter and has good moves in the painted area but where he really brings his value his shooting that ball on the perimeter. He had a solid showing in the minutes of action I was able to see of his group play. He had a good high school season as well so it was nice to see it carry over into the early stages of club play.
Ismael Fadiga, 6’4 Forward, Junction City, SSA 2022 White: Another high energy, defensive minded, and opportunistic scorer from the forward position that stood out this weekend. His wing span really elevates his height and makes him tougher to score on in the post or on drives than what it may appear. He is terrific on the glass and finishes in the paint at a very efficient rate. He was the sole true inside presence for the 3-1 SSA 2022 White team this weekend and managed to stay out of foul trouble while protecting the paint pretty well.
