Here is a list of some of the top post prospects that played at the M14 over the past weekend at Prep Hoops Chi-Town Tip Off!

[player_tooltip player_id="765217" first="KJ" last="Debrick"] 6’8 (2022) IL Hoopstars

Debrick has made tremendous strides since the season. Solid size with tremendous feel for the game in the post. He has good hands and solid footwork to maneuver around guys but is also strong enough to back guys down and finish over them. KJ is tough to keep off the boards. He is a double double threat anytime he plays.

Brady Nicholson 6’8 (2022) Northstar Titans

Brady is another solid wide body post that has good hands around the rim. He gets to his position on the block and has really good feel. When doubled Nicholson can pass like a guard often finding shooters and cutters easily which makes him a terrific offensive threat. Brady is also good rim protector mostly due to his nimble feet and good anticipation.

Marcellus Cohen 6’7 (2022) Rise

Cohen is a thin post guy who can play inside and at the mid post area. He has good upside for a big who can rebound and push the ball in transition. In the post he needs to add some strength but he uses a nice spin move to score when around the rim. Marcellus’ length helps him keep plays alive offensively with back taps that often end up in his possession.

Genesis Austin 6’5 (2022) Full Package

Genesis is a physical forward who contest every rebound on both ends. He has a continuous motor that keeps him involved with most rebounds. Offensively still very raw. Austin is most likely to get all his points from battling on the offensive glass.

[player_tooltip player_id="925226" first="Martell" last="Webb"] 6’7 (2022) IL Hoopstars

Webb is a player I’ve come to enjoy to watching since the fall. He has a wide football upper body with strength he uses well on both ends of the court. Martell keeps defenders on his back when in the post area. Drop step towards the baseline is almost a guarantee basket. Webb is quick off his feet which helps rebounding and blocking shots. An underrated part of his game is his passing ability. Martell puts the ball right where his teammates need it.

[player_tooltip player_id="1042497" first="Zane" last="Doughty"] 6’8 (2023) INB Elite

Zane is a mobile big man who plays hard constantly. He is a stocky big who uses his length well. Doughty keeps the ball high and away from defenders. In the post he can drop step on both sides of the block and finish over players. On defense he again uses his length to block and challenge shots at the rim. With added footwork he can become a college ready big man by his senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048305" first="Wesley" last="Rubin"] 6’7 (2023) Meanstreets

Rubin is a quick athletic big who gets off the ground quick which helps him make many plays around the rim. Wesley a very active rim running big man who rebounds at high rate. With two years left to add a face up game and better ball skill Rubin is a high upside prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1148119" first="Jeremy" last="Harrington"] 6’5 (2023) Team Rose

Harrington is an undersized power post that seems to always be around the ball after missed shots. He has a nose for the ball and stops at nothing in order to get his hands on it. Jeremy uses his body well by shielding the ball and often creating contact before finishing buckets. He is another high motor post player who can become a commodity when he adds more to his mid post game. Showed flashes shooting from three this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="1105722" first="Troy" last="Glover"] 6’7 (2021) Y&R

Glover is a long and lanky active post guy. He uses his length mostly to score off dump passes in the short corner often finishing with dunks. In the post he has a solid jump hook that can become better with added strength and more reps. He is major asset on the court with his ability to switch and swat away shots. Troy rebounds in and outside of his area and reads missed shots well on the offensive glass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215308" first="Dakari" last="Durham"] 6’5 (2023) IL Outwork

Another solid sized forward who can finish with either hand at the rim. Durham has good feet and uses them well. His strong spin moves and half pivots kept guys off balance. Dakari isn’t long but he’s aggressive and that’s makes him a double double threat in the post. If Durham can make the outside shot consistently he will be a prospect that many coaches know around the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048311" first="Tyler" last="Van Gorp"] 6’10 (2023) Hoops 4 Health

Tyler is a lanky big man who will become a serious scoring threat once he adds strength and some bulk. Van Gorp is a short corner post guy who plays above the rim. He keeps the ball high and away from defenders when he gets touches in the paint. Tyler can play around the perimeter as a pick and pop guy. He uses a fundamental hook from the post when he’s able to get positioning. Van Gorp is an upside player who uses length to rebounds just slightly out of his area and to change shots on defense.
