With the naming of the Gatorade Player of the Year being the only major prep basketball award left, I figured it is truly time to place a bow on the end of the high school prep season by naming my All North Louisiana team. In this latest edition of naming this team, all classes will be represented from one of the most unique seasons we have had in Louisiana prep history. I think this is truly a representation of the best of the best from the northern portion of the state.

* Denotes unsigned senior

1st Team (In alphabetical order)

*[player_tooltip player_id="765925" first="Devonte" last="Austin"] (6’1″ / Wossman / Sr.) - The Wossman senior led his team to another undefeated district title and another Marsh Madness appearance. Those two things, along with averaging 24 and 6, earned him the 3A Most Outstanding Player as well All-NELA big school MVP and 3-2A MVP. The 6’1 guard is one of the most athletic two guards the state has and was deserving of every award he won.

[player_tooltip player_id="932846" first="Joseph" last="Manning"] (6’3″ / Bossier / Jr.) - Another outstanding two way player, Manning was 1-3A MVP and co-MVP for his parish (Bossier). Manning can score at all three levels and also has the ability to close if games are tight. The scary part may be that he has one more year of high school eligibility left.

*[player_tooltip player_id="530988" first="Delatrion" last="Moton"] (6’4″ / Woodlawn-Shreveport / Sr.) - Moton was named district MVP, all-state first team, and all-city first team in just his senior year. He also played in one champion game and two state semifinals in his prep career. Moton has one of the highest basketball IQs we have seen and loves taking the big shot when it matters. Him making the first team was pretty much a no-brainer.

[player_tooltip player_id="765923" first="Daniel" last="Ortiz"] (6’1″ / Calvary Baptist / Sr.) - The North Alabame signee had a season to remember for the Cavaliers. He was named city MVP, a McDonald’s All-American nominee, and co-MVP of his district. His 23 points and five assists helped the Cavs make it to the Division IV championship game where they fell to Crescent City. Definitely one of the top players in the northern part of the Boot.

*Drew Tebbe (5’10″ / Anacoco / Sr.) - I will admit I was hating on Vernon Parish for a second and not considering them north Louisiana. One thing I could not hate on was Drew Tebbe’s game. He is the epitome of a floor general and almost helped Anacoco to a state title this season. Tebbe was Class B MOP and Vernon Parish MVP. He was definitely one of the best point guards in the state this year.

*[player_tooltip player_id="931043" first="Darius" last="Young"] (6’6″ / Natchitoches Central / Sr.) - It is something to be said about a player who waits his turn to become "the guy" on his team. Young did just that and it almost culiminated in a championship for the Chiefs. On the season, Young averaged a double-double and was named first team all-state (5A) and 1-5A MVP. He really enhanced his game and made himself and threat inside and out.

2nd Team (In alphabetical order)

*[player_tooltip player_id="1126391" first="Jamarian" last="Cato"] (6’4″ / Simsboro / Sr.) - Outside of [player_tooltip player_id="931043" first="Darius" last="Young"], Cato probably improved his game the most in north Louisiana. His 19.5 ppg was tops on a Tiger team who won and epic Class B final against Anacoco. First team class B player who finishes his career with three state titles. Not bad in my opinion.

*[player_tooltip player_id="765912" first="Randarius" last="Jones"] (6’7″ / Carroll / Sr.) - The Carroll senior came back from a knee injury to be the best form of himself under Coach Lonnie Cooper. His 22 and 12 helped Carroll make a run to Marsh Madness (defeating defending 3A champ Bossier along the way) this season. He also was 2nd team all-state and all-NELA big school first team. Pretty good season to finish his prep career.

[player_tooltip player_id="781848" first="Patrick" last="McCraney"] (6’1″ / Neville / Jr.) - The 2-4A two-time MVP had a season for the Neville Tigers. His 17.5 points, 5 assists, and 5 boards helped garner him a 2nd team all-state selection and helped his team to the 4A semifinals. He also was named to the all-NELA big school 1st team. McCraney can pass, handle, and shoot with the best of them and wants to take the last shot when needed. He is rare indeed.

*[player_tooltip player_id="765941" first="Kashie" last="Natt"] (6’2″ / Rayville / Sr.) - Natt stepped off the football field onto the basketball court and it seemed like he never left. His double-double average for the season gave him his second 1st team, 2A all-state selection along with his all-NELA small school 1st team nod. He also helped Rayville make another trip to the 2A finals (losing to Port Allen). Natt is a playmaker and will be in whatever sport he chooses.

*[player_tooltip player_id="1045506" first="Zach" last="Parrie"] (6’0″ / Ebarb / Sr.) - Parrie nearly pulled off a true storybook ending during his performance at Marsh Madness 2021. His 44 points in the semis mixed with his rise and fire to send the class C championship into OT was classic stuff. He was named the class C Most Outstanding player to tie a nice bow to the end of his season. Definitely an all-north Louisiana type of season.

[player_tooltip player_id="977274" first="Javion" last="Richard"] (6’3″ / West Monroe / Sr.) - If not for a 2nd half collapse against Thibodeaux in the first round, Richard and West Monroe might have had a different ending. Things happen however. Regardless, Richard had a big senior season that saw him named 2nd team all-state in 5A, top player in his district, and all-NELA. The Dallas Baptist signee gets a deserved 2nd team, all-North Louisian nod.

3rd team (In alphabetical order)

[player_tooltip player_id="970111" first="Jamaria" last="Clark"] (6’2″ / Doyline / So.) - The Doyline sophomore put up 30-plus a game and was half of one of the best backcourts in north Louisiana. Clark was also a class B 1st team selection and Times all-area performer. He is also one of the best shooters we have in Louisiana.

*[player_tooltip player_id="765933" first="John" last="Mitchell"] (6’3″ / Captain Shreve / Sr.) - One of the few players that saw double and triple teams consistently and still managed to put up all-state 2nd team numbers in 5A. He also made the first team in 1-5A as well. Mitchell has the complete package and will be a steal for a school that signs him.

*[player_tooltip player_id="530977" first="Jourdain" last="Dishmond"] (6’7″ / Menard / Sr.) - The Peabody lead guard was definitely a primary reason that Menard made it to Marsh Madness in Division II. Dishmond can bully his way to the rim to score. He also gets fouled a ton. His 16 ppg and 11 boards helpled him earn 2nd team honors in class 2A.

*[player_tooltip player_id="1123175" first="Kaleb" last="Raven"] (6’4″ / Wossman / Sr.) - Even though [player_tooltip player_id="765925" first="Devonte" last="Austin"] was their best player, there were times that Raven took over games himself. His 11 (points) and 12 (rebounds) average garnered him 2nd team all-state in 3A and all-NELA first team for big schools. While he played with his back to the basket, he can play on the perimeter as well. Raven will be another steal for a willing taker.

[player_tooltip player_id="765169" first="Shaun" last="Riley"] (6’7″ / Anacoco / Sr.) - The future NSU Demon was a dominant force at times for Anacoco. While his defense was game-changing, Riley averaged a "quiet" 26.5 during Marsh Madness helping Anacoco to a state runner-up trophy. His ability to do multiple things offensively and defensively helped him to be named to the first team in his parish and district along with 2nd team all-state. He is a good one.

[player_tooltip player_id="781860" first="Labree" last="Williams"] (6’6″ / Calvary Baptist / Jr.) - Williams was the anchor to the Cavalier defense. He blocked shots and showed off his scoring ability around the cup. 2nd team all-state and 1st team all district were only a few of his honors as he finished his season earning a second consecutive state runner-up trophy. Look for Williams to try to win the big one next season.

Honorable mention

*Clyde Williams (Epps-Sr.), *[player_tooltip player_id="931055" first="Bryce" last="Roberts"] (Parkway-Sr.), *[player_tooltip player_id="1045509" first="James" last="Ross"] (Ouachita-Sr.), * Zach Parrie Zach Parrie 5'11" | PG Ebarb | 2021 State LA (6’0″ / Ebarb / Sr.) - Parrie nearly pulled off a true storybook ending during his performance at Marsh Madness 2021. His 44 points in the semis mixed with his rise and fire to send the class C championship into OT was classic stuff. He was named the class C Most Outstanding player to tie a nice bow to the end of his season. Definitely an all-north Louisiana type of season.

Javion Richard Javion Richard 6'3" | PG West Monroe | 2021 State LA (6’3″ / West Monroe / Sr.) - If not for a 2nd half collapse against Thibodeaux in the first round, Richard and West Monroe might have had a different ending. Things happen however. Regardless, Richard had a big senior season that saw him named 2nd team all-state in 5A, top player in his district, and all-NELA. The Dallas Baptist signee gets a deserved 2nd team, all-North Louisian nod.

3rd team (In alphabetical order)

Jamaria Clark Jamaria Clark Jamaria Clark 6'2" | CG Doyline | 2023 State LA (6’2″ / Doyline / So.) - The Doyline sophomore put up 30-plus a game and was half of one of the best backcourts in north Louisiana. Clark was also a class B 1st team selection and Times all-area performer. He is also one of the best shooters we have in Louisiana.

* John Mitchell John Mitchell 6'3" | CG Captain Shreve | 2021 State LA (6’3″ / Captain Shreve / Sr.) - One of the few players that saw double and triple teams consistently and still managed to put up all-state 2nd team numbers in 5A. He also made the first team in 1-5A as well. Mitchell has the complete package and will be a steal for a school that signs him.

* Jourdain Dishmond Jourdain Dishmond 6'7" | PF Holy Savior Menard | 2021 State LA (6’7″ / Menard / Sr.) - The Peabody lead guard was definitely a primary reason that Menard made it to Marsh Madness in Division II. Dishmond can bully his way to the rim to score. He also gets fouled a ton. His 16 ppg and 11 boards helpled him earn 2nd team honors in class 2A.

* Kaleb Raven Kaleb Raven 6'5" | SF Wossman | 2021 State LA (6’4″ / Wossman / Sr.) - Even though Devonte Austin Devonte Austin 6'0" | CG Wossman | 2021 State LA was their best player, there were times that Raven took over games himself. His 11 (points) and 12 (rebounds) average garnered him 2nd team all-state in 3A and all-NELA first team for big schools. While he played with his back to the basket, he can play on the perimeter as well. Raven will be another steal for a willing taker.

Shaun Riley Shaun Riley 6'7" | PF Anacoco | 2021 State LA (6’7″ / Anacoco / Sr.) - The future NSU Demon was a dominant force at times for Anacoco.

Labree Williams Labree Williams Labree Williams 6'6" | SF Calvary Baptist | 2023 #186 Nation FL (6’6″ / Calvary Baptist / Jr.) - Williams was the anchor to the Cavalier defense. He blocked shots and showed off his scoring ability around the cup. 2nd team all-state and 1st team all district were only a few of his honors as he finished his season earning a second consecutive state runner-up trophy. Look for Williams to try to win the big one next season.
