The new 2023 rankings are out.

This season ended up being a short AIA season, a full Grind Session season, a condensed CAA season and a longer AAU season with showcase formats.

This 2023 class may be back to normal like the good old days. (We hope!)

We look at the Top-10 SG’s in the 2023 class:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Roosevelt" last="Washington"] Mountain Pointe

-A powerfully built and long guard who loves getting into the lane. He has a nice pull-up from mid-range and can get hot from the 3pt line. His versatility to defend PG's to PF's makes him a top player with his activity, motor, toughness and strength. He is a high-wire act on the break.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="814525" first="KJ" last="Perry"] Gilbert

-Another super athletic guard plays the passing lanes about as good as anyone on the list. He will throw it down way above the rim and defend the 1-3 with his length, speed and quicks. He works best from mid and in and his perimeter game keeps making strides.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="831118" first="Emery" last="Young"] Centennial

-A strong guard had a good season and was a big part of their success to getting to the 5A Chip. He shot the ball from the 3pt line better then last year and plays almost every position for the Coyotes. Like the top two, his defensive versatility makes him an attractive prospect.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="814505" first="Zach" last="Anderson"] Desert Mountain (Pictured)

-A skilled guard can play some on the ball but is best off the ball so he can score it. He has a nice-looking shooting stroke from the perimeter. He is consistent off the catch and can uses his handle to create his own shot. He uses his length and IQ to defend.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="1141681" first="JD" last="Bradford"] Williams Field

-A long and lean guard shows natural upside for the Black Hawks. He was one of only two underclassmen who played on varsity with an almost all senior team of 8 about to graduate. He should make big leap up in production with his shooting, defense and scoring near the rim.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="1160999" first="Devin" last="Miller"] Desert Ridge

-Another soph who got much needed experience on a dominated senior group on varsity of 7 nearing graduation. The lefty loves attacking the basket and his defense on the ball is tough. His athleticism and slashing ability will shine through next season.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="996163" first="Paul" last="Oscislawski"] Chaparral

-A sharp shooter got some minutes on varsity. He has a sturdy frame, a tough mentality and is a fearless shooter. He can rattle them off one by one when he gets rolling.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="1138592" first="Aiden" last="Price"] Mountain Pointe

-A shooting lefty was a surprising starter late in the year and in the 6A Finals vs Sunnyslope. He is an active defender and a consistent catch shooter. He likes the catch-3 and gets many 50/50 balls plus will defend. He can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket with a burst.

9. [player_tooltip player_id="814522" first="Nate" last="Ko"] Casteel

-A natural scorer got some quality time off the bench for the Colts. He can hit the mid-range J plus the catch-3. He is a cerebral player who makes good reads to teammates. He played well recently in a club game scoring 44 points to win a local tournament.

10. [player_tooltip player_id="1132004" first="Davis" last="Hester"] Liberty

-A long and lean shooter who can defend. He shot the ball well for Liberty and plays exactly like what head coach Mark Wood is looking for. Shooters! He can get streaky from deep but it looks good and uses his long limbs to make it difficult on his opponents defensively.

3 others:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="937197" first="Jordan" last="Jones"] Ironwood

-Jones played well this past weekend at the Compton Magic event in Corona/CA. He shot the ball well and created his own shot. He is improving his fluidity as an athlete and handle.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="1031563" first="Jayshawn" last="James"] Central

-A long shooter off the catch with speed and athleticism. Central was one of the teams that didn't play when the rest of 5A played. He may of had that setback but can get back in the flow of things during the club season and be a big part of the Bobcats next HS season.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="814528" first="Chris" last="Ruiz"] Kellis

-A natural scorer is best from 15 feet and in. The team took their lumps this season but got amazing experience with a very young core. Ruiz avg almost 13 ppg including a 30 point performance vs Glendale. He shot the ball well from the line and he is a sneaky good rebounder who should be even better next season.
