The season is set to begin in a few weeks and it’s time to look at the top players that are coming back. We checked with the coaches in 4A to see who they are expecting to return and contribute. Based on the responses we received, these are the top scorers that are returning (listed with rpg):

Jacob Cook, Klamath Union (11.0)
[player_tooltip player_id="1079530" first="Marshall" last="Allen"], Tillamook (10.6)
Jacob Marr, Elmira (9.8)
[player_tooltip player_id="965071" first="Carson" last="Molan"], Cascade (9.0)
Garrett Short, Klamath Union (8.2)
Jeremy De Voe, Gladstone (7.6)
Colton McMaster, Astoria (7.2)
[player_tooltip player_id="855940" first="Jude" last="Ashpole"], Gladstone (7.1)
Bradley Nielsen, Ontario (7.0)
Tristan Lee, Mazama (6.4)
[player_tooltip player_id="962733" first="Ty" last="May"], Philomath (6.2)
Dominic Montiel, Marshfield (6.0)
[player_tooltip player_id="1079544" first="Pierce" last="Davidson"], Marshfield (6.0)
Carter Bascue, Mazama (5.5)
Will French, Valley Catholic (5.3)
Charlie White, Banks (5.3)

Analysis: Jacob Cook (2021 Klamath Union) and [player_tooltip player_id="1079530" first="Marshall" last="Allen"] (2022 Tillamook) are, from the responses we received, the only two players returning who averaged double-doubles last season. It wouldn’t be surprising to see each of them accomplish that again. What’s impressive about the accomplishment is they both stand less than 6-foot-6: Cook is listed at 6-foot-5, while Allen is listed at 6-foot-4.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Jacob Marr (2021 Elmira) capture the rebounding title for the 2021 season. At 6-foot-7 he towers over much of the Sky Em League and narrowly missed averaging a double-double last year. [player_tooltip player_id="855940" first="Jude" last="Ashpole"] (2021 Gladstone) could also be a contender. He has solid size at 6-foot-5 and the willingness to really bang down low despite the fact he’ll be more of a wing at the college level.

Expect the rebounding numbers of [player_tooltip player_id="962733" first="Ty" last="May"] (2023 Philomath) to rise. The 6-foot-6 forward made an immediate impact as a freshman and as he continues to build experience and strength, his statistics should only increase. And perhaps the most surprising guy on the list is [player_tooltip player_id="965071" first="Carson" last="Molan"] (2021 Cascade) simply because of the fact he’s the team’s starting point guard. The senior is a gritty competitor who simply tries to get around the ball as much as possible.
