probably could have waited things out and who knows might have transpired. But the truth of the matter is, the long 6-foot-10 post from Crook County already had some solid options in tow and after making an official visit to Idaho State this week, he knew there was no reason to wait any longer. Lowenbach's a Bengal after making his verbal commitment announcement on Sunday night.
"Idaho State just felt familiar, it's a smaller college town and that kind of keeps me home in a way," Lowenbach said. "Obviously the facilities were nice but the coaches were awesome and seemed truly interested in me as a player and person with the culture that they have built."
Idaho State started recruiting Lowenbach during the season and things really picked up later in the year. Head coach Ryan Looney personally came to watch him play twice during the 5A state tournament, and not long after an offer was extended. The big man made his trip this week and in addition to liking everything he saw, he liked how he would fit in with how the Bengals play and how they plan on using him.
"They use the pick and roll and pick and pop a lot which allows me to create mismatches both from the perimeter and the post, they also utilize high post which allows me the space and vision to pass how I would like to," Lowenbach said. "They also drop down into the post which means that I can go to work down low. More or less I'm a utility guy for them I believe. (I'll be working on) every part (of my game) but focusing on my body, getting bigger and more explosive will truly be the difference in that next level."
It was an incredible senior season for Lowenbach in 2025-26 - one where he not only dominated opponents behind some eye-popping stats (23.5 ppg, 14.9 rpg, 3.6 apg, 2.1 bpg) but led the Cowboys to what was their best season in school history. Memories were made that he'll never forget.
"I'm most proud of our team, I love every single one of them and I couldn't imagine accomplishing any of what I'm doing now without them," Lowenbach said. "I will remember all of the fun times and all of the memories made with my brothers the most."
Named co-5A Player of the Year, Lowenbach's final high school game will be as a member of Team Oregon in the Northwest Shootout that will be played on April 12 at Portland Community College. Our congratulations go out to him and his family on his decision.
